Abstract

In yielding diacetoxybutene by feeding butadiene, acetic acid, and oxygen in the presence of a solid catalyst containing palladium, the butadiene can be efficiently reacted to produce diacetoxybutene in high yield by feeding an oxygen-containing gas containing 7 mol % or more oxygen as fine bubbles to a reaction zone containing the solid catalyst.

Claims (29)

1. A process for producing diacetoxybutene characterized in that in yielding diacetoxybutene by feeding butadiene, acetic acid, and oxygen in the presence of a solid catalyst containing palladium, an oxygen-containing gas containing 7 mol % or more oxygen is fed as bubbles having a diameter of 10 mm or less to a reaction zone containing the solid catalyst,

wherein the reaction zone is in a catalyst-packed bed filled with the solid catalyst, and

characterized by disposing, under the catalyst-packed bed, flow control plates projecting downward from the lower side of the bed.

2. The process of claim 1 , wherein the catalyst-packed bed is a fixed bed.

3. The process of claim 1 , wherein the solid catalyst is one provided on the surface of a support selected from the group consisting of silica, alumina, silica-alumina, titania, and activated carbon.

4. The process of claim 1 , wherein the oxygen-containing gas is one containing 12 mol % or more oxygen.

5. The process of claim 1 , wherein the flow control plates are disposed so as to partition the lower side of the catalyst-packed bed into ten or more sections.

6. The process of claim 1 , wherein the flow control plates are disposed so as to partition the lower side of the catalyst-packed bed into sections of 0.25 m 2 or smaller.

7. The process of claim 1 , wherein the flow control plates project over a length of 30 mm or longer.

8. The process of claim 1 , wherein the height-direction distance between an inlet for gas introduction into the reaction zone and the lower end of the flow control plates is 20 cm or longer.

9. The process of claim 1 , wherein the catalyst-packed bed has a porosity of from 0.30 to 0.41.

10. The process of claim 9 , wherein the catalyst has a particle diameter of from 1 to 6 mm and the packing density of be catalyst is 0.35 g/ml or higher.

11. The process of claim 9 , wherein the gas which is being introduced into the reaction zone has a superficial velocity of from 0.05 to 10 cm/sec.

12. The process of claim 1 , wherein the bubbles have a diameter of 5 mm or less.

13. The process of claim 1 , wherein the bubbles have a diameter of 3 mm or less.

14. The process of claim 1 , wherein the bubbles have a diameter of 1 mm or less.

15. A process for producing diacetoxybutene characterized in that in yielding diacetoxybutene by feeding butadiene, acetic acid, and oxygen in the presence of a solid catalyst containing palladium, an oxygen-containing gas containing 7 mol % or more oxygen is fed as bubbles having a diameter of 10 mm or less to a reaction zone containing the solid catalyst.

wherein a liquid-circulating path for withdrawing a reaction liquid from the reaction zone and supplying the liquid to a lower part of the reaction zone is formed and mixing devices are disposed in this circulating path in two-stage arrangement, wherein a first mixing device is used to feed an oxygen-containing gas and disperse the gas into the reaction liquid flowing through the circulating path and butadiene is supplied to a second mixing device and mixed with the reaction liquid.

16. The process of claim 15 , wherein the mixing devices are static mixers.

17. The process of claim 15 , wherein the reaction zone is in a catalyst-packed bed filled with the solid catalyst.

18. The process of claim 17 , wherein the catalyst-packed bed is a fixed bed.

19. The process of claim 15 , wherein the solid catalyst is one provided on the surface of a support selected from the group consisting of silica, alumina, silica-alumina, titania, and activated carbon.

20. The process of claim 15 , wherein the oxygen-containing gas is one containing 12 mol % or more oxygen.

21. The process of claim 17 , wherein the catalyst-packed bed has a porosity of from 0.30 to 0.41.

22. The process of claim 21 , wherein the catalyst has a particle diameter of from 1 to 6 mm and the packing density of the catalyst is 0.35 g/ml or higher.

23. The process of claim 21 , wherein the gas which is being introduced into the reaction zone has a superficial velocity of from 0.05 to 10 cm/sec.

24. The process of claim 15 , wherein the bubbles have a diameter of 5 mm or less.

25. The process of claim 15 , wherein the bubbles have a diameter of 3 mm or less.

26. The process of claim 15 , wherein the bubbles have a diameter of 1 mm or less.
