Abstract

Web server controls are provided for generating client side markups with recognition and/or audible prompting to enable telephone call controls such as making, transferring and disconnecting telephone calls.

Claims (23)

1. A computer readable medium having instructions, which when executed on a computer generate client side markup for a client in a client/server system, the instructions comprising a set of controls executable on a server and configured to generate markup for a client device according to an application to render a prompt for a question and to associate a grammar for recognition of a response and perform telephony transactions according to the application, wherein each of the controls references a common map used for individually maintaining recognized responses.

2. The computer readable medium of claim 1 wherein the controls relate to one of HTML, XHTML, cHTML, XML and WML.

3. The computer readable medium of claim 1 wherein the controls are adapted to support ECMA CSTA messages and events.

4. The computer readable medium of claim 1 wherein one of the controls is configured to generate markup to process a SMEX message.

5. The computer readable medium of claim 1 wherein one of the controls includes an answer call control configured to generate markup to answer a call.

6. The computer readable medium of claim 1 wherein one of the controls includes a transfer call control configured to generate markup to transfer a call.

7. The computer readable medium of claim 6 wherein the transfer call control includes a property to invoke a function executable on the client device in relation to if the call is transferred.

8. The computer readable medium of claim 1 wherein one of the controls includes a make call control configured to generate markup to make a call.

9. The computer readable medium of claim 8 wherein the make call control includes a property to invoke a function executable on the client device in relation to if the call is made.

10. The computer readable medium of claim 1 wherein one of the controls includes a disconnect call control configured to generate markup to disconnect a call.

11. The computer readable medium of claim 10 wherein the disconnect call control includes a property to invoke a function executable on the client device in relation to if the call is disconnected.

12. The computer readable medium of claim 1 wherein the instructions further include a module, when executed on the client, that creates a dialog as a function of the controls for receiving audible responses to perform telephony transactions.

13. A computer implemented method for performing recognition and/or audible prompting on a computer to perform telephony transactions, the method comprising:

defining a dialog with a set of controls for an application, the set of controls comprising at least a question for generating an audible prompt of a question, a grammar used for recognition and configured to perform telephony transactions, wherein each of the controls references common map used for individually maintaining recognized responses; and

creating a dialog as a function of execution of code related to the controls to prompt a question, recognize an audible response and perform a selected telephony transaction according to the application, wherein creating the dialog includes references to the common map in order to perform the selected telephony transaction.

14. The computer implemented method of claim 13 wherein defining the dialog includes implementing a control to process a SMEX message.

15. The computer implemented method of claim 13 wherein defining the dialog includes implementing a control to transfer a call.

16. The computer implemented method of claim 13 wherein defining the dialog includes implementing a control to make a call.

17. The computer implemented method of claim 13 wherein defining the dialog includes implementing a control to disconnect a call.

18. A computer for generating client side markup for a client in a client/server system, the computer comprising:

a processor; and

a module executable by the processor, the module comprising instructions for a set of controls configured to generate markup for a client device according to an application to render a prompt for a question and to associate a grammar for recognition of a response, and perform telephony transactions according to the application, wherein each of the controls references a common map used for individually maintaining recognized responses.

19. The computer of claim 18 wherein the module is configured to generate markup for the client device to perform the application using a second set of controls having attributes for visual rendering on the client device, wherein each of the second set of controls references the common map used for individually maintaining recognized responses.
