Abstract

An agricultural harvesting machine that comprises a crop processing mechanism and an elevator assembly for conveying harvested crop material to the crop processing mechanism is provided. The elevator assembly comprises an elevator housing, an elevator mechanism mounted in the housing, at least two flexible endless members, and a plurality of slats mounted transversely to the flexible members. The slats have an S-shaped cross section that provides additional strength tot the slats while reducing the chance of damage to the crop conveyed by these slats.

Claims (24)

1. An agricultural harvesting machine comprising crop processing means and an elevator assembly for conveying harvested crop material to said crop processing means, said elevator assembly comprising:

an elevator housing; and

elevator means mounted in said housing and comprising at least two flexible endless members and a plurality of slats mounted transversely to said flexible members, wherein said slats have an S-shaped cross section.

2. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 1 , wherein said slats have, with reference to the normal direction of conveyance, an upright front portion and a curved rear portion.

3. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 2 , wherein:

said front portion has an edge directed to an adjacent wall of said housing; and

said rear portion has an edge directed away from said adjacent wall.

4. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 2 , wherein said front portion has an edge provided with notches.

5. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 1 , wherein said slats are profiled from flat steel by means of a rolling process.

6. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 2 , wherein said slats each include a flat middle portion for attaching at the endless flexible members.

7. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 6 , wherein said front portion is substantially perpendicular to said flat middle portion.

8. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 2 , wherein said curved rear portion configured to move downward toward a bottom wall of the elevator housing and into the crop material.

9. An agricultural harvesting machine comprising crop processing means and an elevator assembly for conveying harvested crop material to said crop processing means, said elevator assembly comprising:

an elevator housing; and

an elevator assembly mounted in said housing, the elevator assembly comprising:

at least one endless member and a plurality of slats mounted transversely to the at least one endless flexible member,

wherein the slats have an S-shaped cross section such that a trailing edge, relative to a normal direction of conveyance, of each of the slats is directed toward the endless flexible member.

10. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 9 , wherein the slats have, with reference to the normal direction of conveyance, an upright front portion and a curved rear portion.

11. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 10 , wherein said front portion has a forward edge directed opposite the trailing edge so as to engage the crop material.

12. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 10 , wherein said front portion has an edge provided with notches.

13. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 9 , wherein the slats are profiled from flat steel by means of a rolling process.

14. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 10 , wherein the slats each include a flat middle portion for attaching at the endless flexible member.

15. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 14 , wherein the front portion is substantially perpendicular to the flat middle portion.

16. An agricultural harvesting machine according to claim 10 , wherein the curved rear portion configured to move downward toward a bottom wall of the elevator housing and into the crop material.
