(b) recovering said extract.

3. The method according to claim 1 , said preparation comprising at least 0.5% by weight betulinic acid.

4. The method according to claim 1 , said preparation comprising at least 1% by weight betulinic acid.

5. The method according to claim 1 , said preparation comprising at least 5% by weight betulinic acid.

6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said plant is of the genus Souroubea or Schwartzia.

7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said plant is a Souroubea species selected from the group consisting of Souroubea gilgii, Souroubea sympetala, Souroubea loczyi, Souroubea venosa , and Souroubea vallicola.

8. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said preparation comprises a pharmaceutical composition, nutritional supplement, food product or beverage.

9. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said preparation is administered in an amount sufficient to provide from 0.1 to 2.5 mg betulinic acid/kg of body weight of said subject per dose.

10. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said preparation is administered in an amount sufficient to provide from 0.1 to 0.25 mg betulinic acid/kg of body weight of said subject per dose.

11. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said anxiety is acute anxiety.
