Abstract

A plasma display device provided with a green color phosphor which is charged entirely with a positive potential, adsorbs only limited amounts of water, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbon, and not liable to cause chemical reaction thereto. A green color phosphor layer is formed of the green phosphor comprising at least one compound selected from among materials defined by the general formulae of M 1-a (Ga 1-x Al x ) 2 O 4 :Mn a (where “M” denotes one of Zn, Mg, Ca and Sr), (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) (Ga 1-x Al x ) 3 (BO 3 ) 4 :Tb y , (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) (Ga 1-x Al x ) 3 (BO 3 ) 4 :Ce y , Tb y , (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) BO 3 :Tb y and (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) 3 (Ga 1-x Al x ) 5 O 12 :Tb y .

Claims (28)

1. A plasma display device provided with a plasma display panel comprising a plurality of columns of discharge cells having one of a single color and multiple colors, and a phosphor layer disposed in each of the discharge cells, the phosphor layer having a color corresponding to the each discharge cell for emitting light when excited by ultraviolet rays, wherein

the phosphor layer is a mixed phosphor and includes a green color phosphor, the green color phosphor being a mixed phosphor comprising:

a phosphor of formula M 1-a (Ga 1-x Al x ) 2 O 4 :Mn a (where “M” denotes one of Ca and Sr, 0.01≦a≦0.06, and 0.1≦x≦1.0), and

a phosphor of formula (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) (Ga 1-x Al x ) 3 (BO 3 ) 4 :Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.1≦x≦1.0, 0.02≦y≦0.1, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98), and

a phosphor of formula (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) (Ga 1-x Al x ) 3 (BO 3 ) 4 :Ce y , Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.1≦x≦1.0, 0.02≦y≦0.1, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98).

A plasma display device provided with a plasma display panel comprising a plurality of columns of discharge cells having one of a single color and multiple colors, and a phosphor layer disposed in each of the discharge cells, the phosphor layer having a color corresponding to the each discharge cell for emitting light when excited by ultraviolet rays, wherein

the phosphor layer is a mixed phosphor and includes a green color phosphor, the green color phosphor being a mixed phosphor comprising:

a phosphor of formula M 1-a (Ga 1-x Al x ) 2 O 4 :Mn a (where “M” denotes one of Ca and Sr, 0.01≦a≦0.06, and 0.1≦x≦1.0) and

a phosphor of formula(Y 1-a-y Gd a ) BO 3 :Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.02≦y≦0.4, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98).

3. A plasma display device provided with a plasma display panel comprising a plurality of columns of discharge cells having one of a single color and multiple colors, and a phosphor layer disposed in each of the discharge cells, the phosphor layer having a color corresponding to the each discharge cell for emitting light when excited by ultraviolet rays, wherein

the phosphor layer is a mixed phosphor and includes a green color phosphor, the green color phosphor being a mixed phosphor comprising:

a phosphor of formula M 1-a (Ga 1-x Al x ) 2 O 4 :Mn a (where “M” denotes one of Ca and Sr, 0.01≦a≦0.06, and 0.1≦x≦1.0) and

a phosphor of formula (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) 3 (Ga 1-x Al x ) 5 O 12 :Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.1≦x≦1.0 0.02≦y≦0.4, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98).

A plasma display device provided with a plasma display panel comprising a plurality of columns of discharge cells having one of a single color and multiple colors, and a phosphor layer disposed in each of the discharge cells, the phosphor layer having a color corresponding to the each discharge cell for emitting light when excited by ultraviolet rays, wherein

the phosphor layer includes a green color phosphor, a blue color phosphor and a red color phosphor,

the green color phosphor being a mixed phosphor comprising:

a spinel system of formula M 1-a (Ga 1-x Al x ) 2 O 4 :Mn a (where “M” is at least one of Ca and Sr, 0.01≦a≦0.06, and 0.1≦x≦1.0), or

a phosphor of yttria system comprising formula (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) (Ga 1-x Al x ) 3 (BO 3 ) 4 :Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.1≦x≦1.0, 0.02≦y≦0.1, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98), and

formula (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) (Ga 1-x Al x ) 3 (BO 3 ) 4 :Ce y , Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.1≦x≦1.0, 0.02≦y≦0.1, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98), and

formula (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) BO 3 :Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.02≦y≦0.4, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98, and

formula (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) 3 (Ga 1-x Al x ) 5 O 12 :Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.1≦x≦1.0, 0.02≦y≦0.4, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98), or

a spinel system of formula M 1-a (Ga 1-x Al x ) 2 O 4 :Mn a (where “N” is at least one of Ca and Sr, 0.01≦a≦0.06, and 0.1≦x≦1.0), and

a phosphor of yttria system comprising formula (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) (Ga 1-x Al x ) 3 (BO 3 ) 4 :Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.1≦x≦1.0 0.02≦y≦0.1, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98), and

formula (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) (Ga 1-x Al x ) 3 (BO 3 ) 4 :Ce y , Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.1≦x≦1.0 0.02≦y≦0.1, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98), and

formula (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) BO 3 :Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.02≦y≦0.4, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98, and

formula (Y 1-a-y Gd a ) 3 (Ga 1-x Al x ) 5 O 12 :Tb y (where 0≦a≦1, 0.1≦x≦1.0, 0.02≦y≦0.4, 0.08≦1-a-y≦0.98), and

the blue color phosphor is a phosphor of BaMgAl 10 O 17 :Eu or BaSrMgAl 10 O 17 :Eu, and

the red color phosphor is a phosphor of Y 2 O 3 :Eu or (Y, Gd)BO 3 :Eu.
