Abstract

The present invention provides a preventive or therapeutic agent for bruxism or bruxism-related diseases that contains as an active ingredient at least one selected from the group consisting of proton pump inhibitors, histamine H 2 receptor antagonists, and acid pump antagonists. Examples of the proton pump inhibitors include rabeprazole, omeprazole, esomeprazole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole, or tenatoprazole, or salts thereof, or hydrates thereof.

Claims (6)

1. A method for treating bruxism, said method comprising administering rabeprazole or a salt thereof in an amount effective to treat said bruxism to a bruxism patient.

2. A method for treating bruxism, said method comprising administering rabeprazole or a salt thereof and famotidine or a salt thereof in an amount effective to treat said bruxism to a bruxism patient.

3. A method for treating a bruxism-related disease in a bruxism patient, said method comprising administering rabeprazole or a salt thereof to said bruxism patient in an amount effective to treat said bruxism-related disease, wherein said bruxism-related disease is selected from the group consisting of temporomandibular disorders, tooth hypersensitivity, masseter muscle hypertrophy, masticatory muscle pain, and headache.

A method for treating a bruxism-related disease in a bruxism patient, said method comprising administering rabeprazole or a salt thereof and famotidine or a salt thereof to said bruxism patient in an amount effective to treat said bruxism-related disease, wherein said bruxism-related disease is selected from the group consisting of temporomandibular disorders, tooth hypersensitivity, masseter muscle hypertrophy, masticatory muscle pain, and headache.

5. A method for treating a temporomandibular disorder in a bruxism patient, said method comprising administering rabeprazole or a salt thereof to said patient in an amount effective to treat said temporomandibular disorder.

6. A method for treating a temporomandibular disorder in a bruxism patient, said method comprising administering rabeprazole or a salt thereof and famotidine or a salt thereof in an amount effective to treat said temporomandibular disorder.
