Method of treating an anxiety disorder
View Patent ↗Anxiety disorders, such as panic disorder, agoraphobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social phobia, post-traumatic stress disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobia, or the like, are treated by administering an effective amount of at least one adenosine A 2A receptor antagonist to a patient in need thereof, optionally in combination with an anxiolytic(s) other than the adenosine A 2A receptor antagonist.
1. A method of treating generalized anxiety disorder, consisting essentially of administering, to a human in need thereof, an effective amount of (E)-8-(3,4-dimethoxystyryl)-1,3-diethyl-7-methylxanthine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as the sole active ingredient.
2. A method of treating generalized anxiety disorder, consisting essentially of orally administering, to a human in need thereof, an effective amount of (E)-8-(3,4-dimethoxystyryl)-1,3-diethyl-7-methylxanthine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as the sole active ingredient.
3. A method of treating obsessive-compulsive disorder, consisting essentially of administering, to a human in need thereof, an effective amount of (E)-8-(3,4-dimethoxystyryl)-1-3-diethyl-7-methylxanthine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as the sole active ingredient.
4. A method of treating panic disorder, consisting essentially of administering to a human in need thereof, an effective amount of (E)-8-(3,4-dimethoxystyryl)-1,3-diethyl-7-methylxanthine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as the sole active ingredient.
5. A method of treating agoraphobia, consisting essentially of administering, to a human in need thereof, an effective amount of (E)-8-(3,4-dimethoxystyryl)-1,3-diethyl-7-methylxanthine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as the sole active ingredient.
6. A method of treating social phobia, consisting essentially of administering, to a human in need thereof, an effective amount of (E)-8-(3,4-dimethoxystyryl)-1,3-diethyl-7-methylxanthine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as the sole active ingredient.
