Braced timber trusses
A parallel chord truss includes elongate lateral chord members of which at least one chord member is continuous along the length of the parallel chord truss in a fixed engagement with a penetrable separating member or web. Lateral chord members are cross-braced for permitting access to a penetrable separating member for allowing cabling, and the like, to pass through apertures in the penetrable separating member.
1 - 10 . (canceled)
11 . A parallel chord truss, comprising:
elongate lateral chord members with at least one chord member of said lateral chord members being continuous lengthwise along said parallel chord truss;
a penetrable separating member in fixed engagement with said at least one chord member; and,
means for cross-bracing said lateral chord members for permitting access to said penetrable separating member.
12 . The parallel chord truss according to claim 11 , wherein said lateral chord members are made of a wood laminate.
13 . The parallel chord truss according to claim 12 , wherein said wood laminate is plywood.
14 . The parallel chord truss according to claim 11 , wherein said penetrable separating member is an elongate sheet material in a sleeved engagement with each chord member of said lateral chord members.
15 . The parallel chord truss according to claim 14 , wherein said penetrable separating member is made of particle board.
16 . The parallel chord truss according to claim 11 , wherein said penetrable separating member is a made of particle board.
17 . The parallel chord truss according to claim 11 , wherein said means for cross-bracing said lateral chord members includes cross-bracing members that are multi-toothed nail plate connectors nailed at each end thereof to one chord member of said lateral chord members on at least one said of said parallel chord truss.
18 . The parallel chord truss according to claim 17 , wherein said cross-bracing members of said means for cross-bracing said lateral chord members are oriented substantially diagonally across said penetrable separating member.
19 . The parallel chord truss according to claim 18 , wherein said cross-bracing members are substantially V-shaped.
20 . The parallel chord truss according to claim 19 , wherein said penetrable separating member has apertures defined by an interior of one cross-bracing member of said cross-members that are substantially V-shaped, so that cabling is passable through the apertures.
21 . The parallel chord truss according to claim 11 , wherein said lateral chord members include one discontinuous chord member, as is said penetrable separating member between either side of the discontinuity, so that said parallel chord truss is able to accommodate an obstacle positioned within an aperture defined by the discontinuity in said one discontinuous chord member and said penetrable separating member.
