Pharmaceutical compositions comprising cannabichromene type compounds
View Patent ↗The invention relates to the use of cannabichromene type compounds and derivatives thereof in the treatment of mood disorders.
1. A method for treating depression in a human patient, which comprises administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of cannabichromene (CBC)
wherein the CBC is substantially pure or is an extract from a cannabis plant that contains greater than or equal to 30% CBC of the total cannabinoid content, and wherein the CBC is administered as a unit dosage form that comprises CBC in an amount of 0.1 mg to 1000 mg.
2. The method according to claim 1 wherein the CBC is present in an extract of at least one cannabis plant.

The method according to claim 1 , wherein the CBC is administered nasally, sublingually, buccally, topically, orally, rectally, intravenously, intra-peritoneally, intra-muscularly, subcutaneously, transdermally, intra-vaginally, intra-urethrally, by nebuliser, as inhaled vapour or by installation directly into the bladder.
4. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the extract comprises substantially all the naturally occurring cannabinoids in said at least one cannabis plant.
5. The method according to claim 2 , wherein the extract is enriched for CBC.
6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the CBC is administered in an isolated and substantially pure form.
7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the CBC is administered together with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable diluents, excipients or carriers.
8. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the CBC is not administered as inhaled vapour.
