Method, system, and computer program for translating information for compatibility with an information handling system
View Patent ↗In one embodiment, at least one information handling system receives an excerpt of information. In response to a configuration of the information handling system, the information handling system performs at least one of the following operations: automatically translating the excerpt from an XML format into a non-XML format, so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with the information handling system; and automatically translating the excerpt into an alternate XML format, so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with the information handling system.
1. A computer-implemented method performed by a first client information handling system associated with a first user, comprising:
receiving, via the first client information handling system, an excerpt of information comprising an item of music;
in response to a configuration specified by one or more files of the first client information handling system, performing at least one of the following operations: automatically translating the excerpt from an XML format into a non-XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with the first client information handling system; and automatically translating the excerpt from an XML format into an alternate XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with the first client information handling system;
performing at least one of the following operations: in response to the automatically translating the excerpt from an XML format into a non-XML format, automatically translating the excerpt from the non-XML format into an XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with a second client information handling system associated with a second user; and in response to the automatically translating the excerpt from an XML format into an alternate XML format, automatically translating the excerpt from the alternate XML format into an XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with a second client information handling system associated with a second user;
automatically storing the excerpt in a folder that is preselected by the first user;
allowing only the first user to selectively determine accessibility to the folder; and
causing the excerpt to be provided to the second client information handling system.
2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the excerpt further comprises a music playlist.
3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the XML format is a generic XML format that is platform independent and not specific to the configuration of the first client information handling system and the second client information handling system.
4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the excerpt has a generic XML format, and wherein automatically translating the excerpt into the alternate XML format comprises:
automatically translating the excerpt from the generic XML format into the alternate XML format.
5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the non-XML format is specific to the configuration of the first client information handling system.
6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the alternate XML format is specific to the configuration of the first client information handling system.
7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the excerpt is a music playlist having a generic XML format, further comprising automatically translating from the generic XML format to a Windows Media Player format.
8. A computer system, comprising:
a first client information handling system associated with a first user to:
receive, via the first client information handling system, an excerpt of information comprising an item of music;
in response to a configuration specified by one or more files of the first client information handling system, perform at least one of the following operations: automatically translate the excerpt from an XML format into a non-XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with the first client information handling system; and automatically translate the excerpt from an XML format into an alternate XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with the first client information handling system;
perform at least one of the following operations: in response to the automatically translating the excerpt from an XML format into a non-XML format, automatically translate the excerpt from the non-XML format into an XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with a second client information handling system associated with a second user; and in response to the automatically translating the excerpt from an XML format into an alternate XML format, automatically translate the excerpt from the alternate XML format into an XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with a second client information handling system associated with a second user;
automatically store the excerpt in a folder that is preselected by the first user;
allow only the first user to selectively determine accessibility to the folder; and
cause the excerpt to be provided to the second client information handling system.
9. The computer system of claim 8 , wherein the excerpt further comprises a music playlist.
10. The computer system of claim 8 , wherein the XML format is a generic XML format that is platform independent and not specific to the configuration of the first client information handling system and the second client information handling system.
11. The computer system of claim 8 , wherein the excerpt has a generic XML format, and wherein the first client information handling system is for:
automatically translating the excerpt from the generic XML format into the alternate XML format.
12. The computer system of claim 8 , wherein the non-XML format is specific to the configuration of the first client information handling system.
13. The computer system of claim 8 , wherein the alternate XML format is specific to the configuration of the first client information handling system.
14. The computer system of claim 8 , wherein the excerpt is a music playlist having a generic XML format, further comprising automatically translating from the generic XML format to a Windows Media Player format.
15. A computer program product including computer readable program code embodied in a computer readable storage medium, the computer readable program code processable by a first client information handling system associated with a first user for causing the first client information handling system to perform a method comprising:
receiving, via the first client information handling system, an excerpt of information comprising an item of music;
in response to a configuration specified by one or more files of the first client information handling system, performing at least one of the following operations: automatically translating the excerpt from an XML format into a non-XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with the first client information handling system; and automatically translating the excerpt from an XML format into an alternate XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with the first client information handling system;
performing at least one of the following operations: in response to the automatically translating the excerpt from an XML format into a non-XML format, automatically translating the excerpt from the non-XML format into an XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with a second client information handling system associated with a second user; and in response to the automatically translating the excerpt from an XML format into an alternate XML format, automatically translating the excerpt from the alternate XML format into an XML format so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with a second client information handling system associated with a second user;
automatically storing the excerpt in a folder that is preselected by the first user;
allowing only the first user to selectively determine accessibility to the folder; and
causing the excerpt to be provided to the second client information handling system.
16. The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the excerpt further comprises a music playlist.
17. The computer program of claim 15 , wherein the XML format is a generic XML format that is platform independent and not specific to the configuration of the first client information handling system and the second client information handling system.
18. The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the excerpt has a generic XML format, and wherein the computer program is processable by the first client information handling system for causing the first client information handling system to:
automatically translate the excerpt from the generic XML format into the alternate XML format.
19. The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the non-XML format is specific to the configuration of the first client information handling system.
20. The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the alternate XML format is specific to the configuration of the first client information handling system.
