Abstract

A light emitting diode (LED) warning signal light, the warning signal light comprising an array of light sources configured on a light support and in electrical communication with a controller and a power supply, battery, or other electrical source. The warning signal light provides various colored light signals for independent use or use by an emergency vehicle. These light signals may include a stationary light, strobe light, revolving light, an alternating light, a flashing light, and an oscillating light. Additionally, the warning signal light may be capable of displaying symbols, reverse characters, or arrows. Preferably, rotating and oscillating light signals are produced by sequentially illuminating columns of LED's on a stationary light support. However, the warning signal light may also be rotated or oscillated via mechanical means. The warning signal light may also be transportable for easy connection to a stand such as a tripod for electrical connection to a power supply as a stand-alone warning signal. The controller may further be adapted to regulate or modulate the power intensity exposed to the illuminated LED's to create a variable intensity light signal.

Claims (28)

1. A warning signal light for use with a motorized vehicle, the warning signal light comprising:

a) a light support having a front side;

b) a plurality of light emitting diodes arranged about and attached to front side; and

c) a controller in electric communication with the light emitting diodes, the controller constructed and arranged to activate the light emitting diodes thereby producing at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals, wherein the controller is capable of providing variable illumination intensity to at least one of said visually distinct warning light signals, said light emitting diodes receiving power from a power source.

2. The warning signal light of claim 1 , said warning signal light further comprising a back side having a plurality of light emitting diodes arranged about and attached to said back side.

3. The warning signal light of claim 2 , wherein the controller independently controls the light emitting diodes on the front side and the back side for the provision of different warning light signals on the front side and the back side.

4. The warning signal light of claim 1 , wherein the motorized vehicle is a utility vehicle.

5. The warning signal light of claim 1 , wherein the motorized vehicle is an emergency vehicle.

6. The warning signal light of claim 1 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are produced simultaneously.

7. The warning signal light of claim 1 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are produced in at least one combination.

8. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated in any combination.

9. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated simultaneously in any combination.

10. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated alternatively in any combination.

11. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein three or more visually distinct warning light signals are generated in any combination of two or more visually distinct warning light signals.

12. The multiple warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein three or more visually distinct warning light signals are generated simultaneously in any combination of two or more visually distinct warning light signals.

13. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein three or more visually distinct warning signals are generated alternatively in any combination of two or more visually distinct warning light signals.

14. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein three or more visually distinct warning light signals are generated in any combination of three or more visually distinct warning light signals.

15. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein three or more visually distinct warning light signals are generated simultaneously in any combination of three or more visually distinct warning light signals.

16. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein three or more visually distinct warning light signals are generated alternatively in any combination of three or more visually distinct warning light signals.

17. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated in a regular pattern.

18. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated in an intermittent pattern.

19. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated in an irregular pattern.

20. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated in a regular sequence.

21. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated in an intermittent sequence.

22. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated in an irregular sequence.

23. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated at regular intervals.

24. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated at intermittent intervals.

25. The warning signal light of claim 7 , wherein the at least two different types of visually distinct warning light signals are generated at irregular intervals.
