Apparatus for producing oxidic nanocrystals
View Patent ↗An apparatus for producing oxidic nanocrystals from metal organic compounds or volatile inorganic compounds comprises an apparatus which includes a first vaporizer which is connected to a first carrier gas stream to produce a first reactant gas stream, a second vaporizer is connected to a second carrier gas stream to produce a second reactant gas stream the first and second reactant gas streams are connected to a first feed line and flow heated reactor wherein the reactants are heated and reacted to provide oxidic nanocrystals which are unagglomerated having a mean particle size of up to 20 nanometers.
1. An apparatus for producing oxidic nanocrystals, the apparatus comprising: a first vaporizer for containing a first metalorganic complex or a first volatile inorganic compound, the first vaporizer being connected to a first carrier gas stream to produce a first reactant gas stream, a second vaporizer containing a second metalorganic complex or a second volatile inorganic compound, the second vaporizer being connected to a second carrier gas stream to produce a second reactant gas stream, the first and second reactant gas streams being connected to a first feed line, a flow reactor comprising a tube having a cylindrical heating zone disposed inside, the first feed line entering the reactor through a first opening and extending into the cylindrical heating zone, the reactor further being connected to a reaction gas source, reaction gas from the reaction gas source entering the reactor through a second feed line through a second opening, the second feed line being connected to a side of the cylindrical heating zone, the cylindrical heating zone having a baffle at a downstream end of the heating zone, the baffle extending outwardly from the downstream end and preventing convection in a direction counter to reactant gas flow into the reactor, the apparatus further comprising an adsorption trap connected downstream of the reactor and a vacuum pump connected downstream of the adsorption trap.
