Abstract

The present disclosure relates to displaying full scale images with overlaid similar scaled images and a graphical user device in a display of a client device. The client device receives video streams of the full scale images and scaled images. The video streams are broadcast independent of one another, and a user of the client device may manipulate the format of the images of either or both streams, and/or place the scaled image on any portion of the full scaled image. The graphical user interface is placed so it does not obscure the scaled image. Alternatively a single video stream may be received by the client device. When a single video stream is received, the client device creates two video streams, one stream comprising full scale images and the other stream comprising scaled images. The full scale image is overlaid with the scaled image and the graphical user interface.

Claims (19)

1. A user interface comprising:

a full scale image presented for display, the full scale image being generated from a full scale video stream received from a content provider;

a scaled image overlaid onto a portion of the full scale image for display, the scaled image being a scaled representation of the full scale image and generated from a compressed video stream that is synchronized with the full scale video stream received from the content provider, the compressed video stream being a compressed version of the full scale video stream, wherein the compressed video stream includes scaled images corresponding to full scale images of the full scale video stream; and

a graphical user interface positioned next to the scaled image overlaid onto the full scale image for display without obscuring the scaled image.

2. The user interface of claim 1 wherein the full scale image is a different format than the image.

3. The user interface of claim 1 wherein a user determines a format of the full scale image and a format of the scaled image.

4. The user interface of claim 1 wherein the full scale image is a full scale video image, and wherein the scaled image is a scaled video image of the full scale video image.

5. The user interface of claim 1 wherein the scaled image is placed along a left side of the full scale image.

6. The user interface of claim 1 wherein a user determines where the scaled image is overlaid onto the full scale image.

7. The user interface of claim 1 wherein the graphical user interface is configured to receive instructions from a user to provide a different graphical user interface.

8. A method in a client device comprising:

receiving a full scale video stream from a content provider;

receiving a compressed video stream synchronized with the full scale video stream from the content provider, the compressed video stream being a compressed version of the full scale video stream;

displaying a full scale image generated from the full scale video stream;

overlaying a scaled image onto a portion of the full scale image for display, the scaled image being a scaled representation of the full scale image and generated from the compressed video stream; and

displaying a graphical user interface next to the scaled image overlaid onto the full scale image without obscuring the scaled image.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein the scaled image is a different format than the full scale image.

10. The method of claim 8 wherein the scaled image is placed along a left side of the full scale image.

11. The method of claim 8 further comprising receiving an instruction from a user to modify information presented by the graphical user interface.
