Abstract

Automatically entering data into a clinical analyzer's operating control system, the data associated with an object to be placed into the clinical analyzer, by providing special symbols as an additional identifier in indicia affixed to the object.

Claims (9)

1 . A method to automatically enter data into a clinical analyzer's operating control system, the data associated with an object to be placed into the clinical analyzer, by providing special symbols as an additional identifier in indicia affixed to the object, reading the indicia, the operating control system adapted to use the special symbols to automatically determine where the data are to be stored therein.

2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the special symbols identify the type of object to be placed into the analyzer.

3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the indicia affixed to the object are one-dimensional barcode indicia.

4 . The method of claim 1 wherein the indicia affixed to the object are two-dimensional matrix indicia.

5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the special symbols comprise two characters selected from among Hex Code symbols.

6 . The method of claim 5 wherein the special symbols comprise two characters selected from the group consisting of %, 0, &, *, (,}, {, [,], !, :, and >.

7 . The method of claim 1 wherein the type of object to be placed into the analyzer comprises liquid chemical containers.

8 . The method of claim 1 wherein the type of object to be placed into the analyzer comprises electromechanical components.

9 . The method of claim 1 wherein the type of object to be placed into the analyzer comprises integrated sensors.
