Dimensionally stable yarns
View Patent ↗An undrawn yarn is produced at increased quench delay and increased take-up speed to achieve improved ultimate elongation at a given crystallinity. Particularly preferred aspects include products comprising such yarns and methods for producing same.
1. An undrawn dimensionally stable polyester yarn having a dimensional stability of no more than 12 as defined by Ex+TS, having a crystallinity C, and an ultimate elongation UE, wherein UE≧1.6*C+121.
2. The undrawn dimensionally stable polyester yarn of claim 1 wherein the polyester comprises poly(ethylene terephthalate).
3. The undrawn yarn of claim 1 wherein the crystallinity is between 10% and 40%.
4. The undrawn yarn is claim 3 wherein the linear density is between 300 and 6000 dtex.
5. A drawn dimensionally stable yarn formed from the undrawn dimensionally stable polyester yarn of claim 1 .
6. A product comprising the drawn dimensionally stable yarn of claim 5 .
