Abstract

The present invention relates to methods for treating neurological-urological conditions. This is accomplished by administration of at least one neurotoxin.

Claims (13)

1. A method for treating urinary incontinence in a patient, the method comprising the step of administering to a patient with urinary incontinence a botulinum toxin, thereby treating the urinary incontinence.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patent is a human.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient is a human female.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the botulinum toxin is a botulinum toxin type A.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the botulinum toxin is administered in a pharmaceutically acceptable formulation selected from the group consisting of: a liquid, a powder, a cream, an emulsion, a pill, a troche, a suppository, a suspension, and a solution.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the botulinum toxin is administered in a pharmaceutically acceptable formulation selected from the group consisting of a cream, a suspension and an emulsion.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the botulinum toxin is injected into the urinary tract or the bladder of the patient in a pharmaceutically acceptable formulation selected from the group consisting of: a liquid, an emulsion, a suspension, and a solution.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient has urge incontinence.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein administration of the botulinum toxin results in increased bladder capacity in the patient.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein administration of the botulinum toxin results in reduced bladder spasticity in the patient.

11. A method for treating urinary incontinence in a human patient, the method comprising the step of administering to a human patient with urinary incontinence a botulinum toxin type A, thereby treating the urinary incontinence.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient has incontinence resulting from traumatic injury.

13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient has incontinence resulting from injury to the vertebrae.
