Vaccine formulations comprising antiidiotypic antibodies which immunologically mimic group B streptococcal carbohydrates
View Patent ↗The invention relates to peptide, oligopeptide or polypeptide compounds that are capable of eliciting a protective immune response against the capsular polysaccharide of group B Streptococcus (GBS), particularly type III GBS. Such compounds are useful in the development of vaccines that are effective against diseases caused by these pathogens.
1. An isolated nucleic acid molecule which encodes an scFv fragment that is capable of eliciting a type III capsular polysaccharide-specific protective immune response against group B Streptococcus.
2. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 1 wherein the nucleic acid molecule is DNA.
3. A cloning or expression vector comprising the nucleic acid molecule according to either of claim 1 or 2 .
4. The vector according to claim 3 which is a viral vector.
5. A isolated host cell transformed or transfected with the nucleic acid molecule of either of claim 1 or 2 .
6. A isolated host cell transformed or transfected with the vector of claim 3 .
7. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 1 , wherein the structure of the scFv fragment mimics an antigenic determinant of the type III capsular polysaccharide of group B Streptococcus.
8. The nucleic acid molecule of claim 7 wherein the nucleic acid molecule is DNA.
9. A cloning or expression vector comprising the nucleic acid molecule according to either of claim 7 or 8 .
10. The vector according to claim 9 which is a viral vector.
11. A isolated host cell transformed or transfected with the nucleic acid molecule of either of claim 7 or 8 .
12. A isolated host cell transformed or transfected with the vector of claim 9 .
