Abstract

An inkjet printer cradle including a body defining a recess dimensioned to locate a removable inkjet cartridge of a type having a pagewidth printhead and an air inlet port; and an air compressor having an air outlet pipe arranged to traverse a portion of the body defining an internal shelf of the recess, said pipe positioned to couple with the air inlet port upon insertion of the inkjet printer cradle into the recess and configured to assist in piercing of a seal over the air inlet port.

Claims (12)

1. An inkjet printer cradle including:

a body complementary to locate a removable inkjet cartridge, the removable injet cartridge having a pagewidth printhead and an air inlet port;

an air compressor within the body, the air compressor having an air outlet pipe positioned to couple with and exhaust air to the air inlet port of the removable inkjet cartridge at receipt of the removable inkjet cartridge by the body; and

a print media transport assembly within the body, the print media transport assembly being arranged to transport print media past the printhead of the removable inkjet cartridge for printing when the removable inkjet cartridge is received by the body.

2. An injet printer cradle according to claim 1 , wherein the body defines a recess dimensioned to locate the removable inkjet cartridge.

3. An injet printer cradle according to claim 2 , wherein the air outlet pipe terminates within the recess.

4. An injet printer cradle according to claim 3 , wherein the air outlet pipe traverses a portion of the body defining an internal shelf of the recess.

5. An inkjet printer cradle according to claim 1 , wherein the air outlet pipe has a termination configured to assist piercing of a seal over the air inlet port.

6. An inkjet printer cradle including:

a body defining a recess dimensioned to locate a removable injet cartridge, the removable inkjet cartridge having a pagewidth printhead and an air inlet port;

an air compressor within the body, the air compressor having an air outlet pipe arranged to traverse a portion of the body defining an internal shelf of the recess, said pipe positioned to couple with and exhaust air to the air inlet port of the removable inkjet cartridge at receipt and location of the removable inkjet cartridge by the recess, said pipe being configured to assist in piercing of a seal over the air inlet port of the removable inkjet cartridge: and

a print media transport assembly within the body, the print media transport assembly being arranged to transport print media east the printhead of the removable inkjet cartridge for printing when the removable inkjet cartridge is received by the body.
