Abstract

A lithographic printing plate support comprising a substrate having thereon a porous layer comprising metal oxide particles bound by a compound containing a metal atom and a phosphorus atom.

Claims (9)

1. A lithographic printing plate support comprising a non-anodized substrate having thereon a porous layer comprising metal oxide particles bound by a reaction product between a phosphorus compound and a metal oxide, or a reaction product between a phosphorus compound and a reaction accelerator,

wherein the substrate is an aluminum plate, an aluminum-laminated paper, an aluminum-laminated resin or an aluminum-coated metal.

2. The lithographic printing plate support as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the metal oxide is an oxide or composite oxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of silicon, magnesium, zirconium and titanium.

3. The lithographic printing plate support as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a thickness of the porous layer is from 0.5 to 20 μm and a surface roughness Ra of the support is from 0.3 to 2.0 μm.

4. The lithographic printing plate support as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a pore-sealing layer is further provided on the porous layer.

5. The lithographic printing plate support as claimed in claim 4 , wherein a thickness of the porous layer is from 0.5 to 20 μm, a thickness of the pore-sealing layer is from 0.01 to 0.5 μm and a surface roughness Ra of the support is from 0.3 to 2.0 μm.

6. A lithographic printing plate support comprising a non-anodized substrate having thereon an interlayer formed from a composition comprising high-porosity particles incorporated in a reaction product between an alumina particle, a phosphoric acid and an aluminum compound.

7. The lithographic printing plate support as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the substrate is an aluminum plate, an aluminum-laminated paper, an aluminum-laminated resin or an aluminum-coated metal.

8. A method for producing a lithographic printing plate support comprising a non-anodized subsisate having thereon a porous layer and a pore-sealing layer in this order, which comprises surface-roughening the substrate, providing the porous layer comprising metal oxide particles bound by a reaction product between a phosphorous compound and a metal oxide, or a reaction product between a phosphorous compound and a reaction accelerator on the surface-roughened substrate, and providing the pore-sealing layer on the porous layer.
