Abstract

The present invention provides an optical disc apparatus which solves a problem that the tracking control takes off when an objective lens is displaced in the tracking direction due to its weight. In this optical disc apparatus, a spot position detector 108 generates a spot position signal which indicates a position of a light spot on a light receiving element 105 , and supplies the signal to a traverse loop filter 111 and a spot position loop filter 109 . A controller 115 supplies an output from the spot position loop filter 109 to a tracking actuator 104 , before supplying an output from the traverse loop filter 111 to a traverse motor 113 , previously moves the light spot near the center of the light receiving element 105 , and starts the traverse control in a state where a value of the spot position signal at starting of the traverse control is reduced.

Claims (16)

1. An optical disc control method comprising:

inputting a signal indicating an amount of deviation of a converging unit from a center of a light receiving element in an optical head;

moving the converging unit according to said signal while the optical head is stopping, and changing a value of said signal to an approximately zero value; and

starting a traverse control of the optical head using said signal after completion of said moving.

2. The optical disc control method of claim 1 , further comprising performing a tracking control of a location of the objective lens after moving the objective lens.

3. An optical disc control apparatus comprising:

a converging unit;

an optical head having a light receiving element;

an inputting unit for inputting a signal indicating an amount of deviation of said converging unit from a center of the light receiving element;

a moving unit for moving said converging unit according to said signal while the optical head is stopping, and changing a value of said signal to an approximately zero value; and

a traverse control starting unit for starting a traverse control of the optical head using said signal after completing a movement of said moving unit.

4. The optical disc control apparatus of claim 3 , further comprising a tracking error detection circuit, wherein said controller is for performing a tracking control after instructing movement of the converging unit to be closer to the center of the light receiving element.

5. The optical disc control apparatus of claim 4 further comprising:

a spot position loop filter;

a tracking loop filter; and

a selection circuit for selecting either a signal from the spot position loop filter or a signal from the tracking loop filter.
