Abstract

A water flushing system for a pressurized subterranean water distribution system includes an inlet conduit for receiving pressurized water from the subterranean water distribution system; an outlet fluidly connected to the inlet conduit for discharging pressurized water in the inlet conduit downwardly towards a drain; and a control valve for controlling the flow of pressurized water in the inlet conduit. The water flushing system further includes one or more of the following features: a freeze protection assembly, a detachable coupling system, a dechlorination system, and a backflow prevention system.

Claims (25)

1. A water treatment apparatus comprising:

a flow controlled passage for pressurized water having an inlet adapted for fluid connection to a subterranean pressurized water distribution system;

a flow control valve disposed along the flow controlled passage for permitting and prohibiting the flow of pressurized water through the flow controlled passage and into a conduit, wherein at least a portion of the conduit extends above ground;

a housing substantially enclosing the above ground portion of the conduit;

a water treatment assembly containing at least one water treatment substance, the waver treatment assembly being proximate the housing; and

a cap operatively positioned to redirect pressurized water from the conduit downwardly and about the outside of the housing, wherein at least a portion of the downwardly discharged water enters the water treatment assembly and is exposed to the water treatment substance.

2. The water treatment apparatus of claim 1 further including:

programmable electronic control circuitry for controlling the flow of pressurized water through the flow controlled passage by activating and deactivating the flow control valve, the system including a programmable microprocessor system for storing instructions for activating and deactivating the flow control valve; and

at least one programming interface operatively connected to the microprocessor system for inputting electronic information to be stored and processed in the microprocessor system for activating and deactivating the flow control valve.

3. The water treatment apparatus of claim 1 wherein the water treatment substance is at least one of minerals, vitamins, purification agents, bio-growth inhibitors and dechlorination agents.

4. The water treatment apparatus of claim 1 wherein the water treatment substance is one of sodium sulfite and ascorbic acid.

5. The water treatment apparatus of claim 1 wherein the water treatment substance is at least one dechloriantion tablet.

6. A water treatment apparatus comprising:

a flow controlled passage for pressurized water having an inlet adapted for fluid connection to a subterranean pressurized water distribution system;

a flow control valve disposed along the flow controlled passage for permitting and prohibiting the flow of pressurized water through the flow controlled passage and into a conduit, wherein at least a portion of the conduit extends above ground;

a housing for substantially enclosing the above ground portion of the conduit, the top of the housing being surrounded by a water dissipating cap,

wherein the conduit directs pressurized water received in the inlet against the cap for redirecting the pressurized water downwardly toward the ground and about the outside of the housing;

a water treatment assembly containing at least one water treatment substance, the water treatment assembly being positioned adjacent to the housing so as to form a channel therebetween for receiving a portion of the downwardly discharged water, the channel routing the discharged water into contact the water treatment substance before exiting the water treatment assembly.

7. The water treatment apparatus of claim 6 further including:

programmable electronic control circuitry for controlling the flow of pressurized water through the flow controlled passage by activating and deactivating the flow control valve, the system including a programmable microprocessor system for storing instructions for activating and deactivating the flow control valve; and

at least one programming interface operatively connected to the microprocessor system for inputting electronic information to be stored and processed in the microprocessor system for activating and deactivating the flow control valve.

8. The water treatment apparatus of claim 6 wherein the water treatment substance is at least one of minerals, vitamins, purification agents, bio-growth inhibitors and dechlorination agents.

9. The water treatment apparatus of claim 6 wherein the water treatment substance is one of sodium sulfite and ascorbic acid.

10. The water treatment apparatus of claim 6 wherein the water treatment substance is at least one dechloriantion tablet.

11. The water treatment apparatus of claim 6 wherein the conduit is substantially vertical.
