A cutaway vest generally includes a rear portion having an internal cummerbund, a front portion, and a pull cord. The cutaway vest includes a cutaway attachment in each shoulder and in the back for cutting away the shoulders, the sides, and the cummerbund upon pulling and removing a pull cord from the cutaway vest. The cutaway attachment may include a loop which is inserted through a ring and secured in place by a cable of the pull cord.
1. A cutaway garment comprising:
a front portion;
a rear portion;
a cummerbund portion;
a plurality of connectors for releasably attaching said front portion to said rear portion, and said cummerbund to said rear portion;
a handle attached to at least one cable, said at least one cable operable with said plurality of connectors to attach said front portion to said rear portion, and said cummerbund to said rear portion, and
wherein removal of said at least one cable allows cutting away of said front portion from said rear portion, and said cummerbund from said rear portion.
2. The cutaway garment of claim 1 wherein said plurality of connectors comprises a plurality of rings and a plurality of loops.
3. The cutaway garment of claim 1 wherein said at least one cable comprises a plurality of cables.
4. The cutaway garment of claim 1 further comprising a pair of sleeves and wherein shoulder portions of said rear portion comprise two flaps releasably attachable to said pair of sleeves.
5. The cutaway garment of claim 1 wherein said handle is interchangeably disposable on at least one of a right side and a left side of said front portion of said cutaway garment.
6. The cutaway garment of claim 1 wherein said cutaway garment comprises a tactical load bearing vest.
7. The cutaway garment of claim 1 wherein said cutaway garment comprises a body armor vest.
8. A cutaway garment comprising:
a front portion;
a rear portion;
a cummerbund portion;
a plurality of loops and rings for releasably attaching said front portion to said rear portion, and said cummerbund to said rear portion;
a handle attached to at least one cable, said at least one cable operable to pass through said loops to attach said front portion to said rear portion, and said cummerbund to said rear portion; and
wherein removal of said at least one cable allows cutting away of said front portion from said rear portion, and said cummerbund from said rear portion.
9. The cutaway garment of claim 8 further comprising a pair of sleeves and wherein shoulder portions of said rear portion comprise two flaps releasably attachable to said pair of sleeves.
10. The cutaway garment of claim 8 wherein said handle is interchangeably disposable on at least one of a right side and a left side of said front portion of said cutaway garment.
11. The cutaway garment of claim 8 wherein said at least one cable comprises a plurality of cables.
12. The cutaway garment of claim 8 wherein said cutaway garment comprises a tactical load-bearing vest.
13. The cutaway garment of claim 8 wherein said cutaway garment comprises a body armor vest.
14. A cutaway garment comprising:
a front portion;
a rear portion;
a cummerbund portion; and
means for cutting away said front portion from said rear portion, and a portion of said cummerbund from said rear portion.
15. The cutaway garment of claim 14 further comprising means for releasably attaching said front portion to said rear portion during norm use.
16. The cutaway garment of claim 14 wherein said cutaway means comprises a handle.
17. The cutaway garment of claim 14 wherein said cutaway means comprises a handle attached to at least one cable.
18. The cutaway garment of claim 14 wherein said cutaway means comprises a handle attached to a plurality of cables.
19. The cutaway garment of claim 14 wherein said cutaway means comprises a plurality of loops.
20. The cutaway garment of claim 14 said cutaway means comprises a plurality of rings.
21. The cutaway garment of claim 14 means for adjustably sizing said cutaway garment and said cummerbund around a wearer.
22. A method for quickly removing a garment, the method comprising:
wearing a cutaway garment of claim 1 ; and
cutting away the cutaway garment to disconnect the front portion the rear portion and the cummerbund from the rear portion.
23. The method of claim 22 wherein the cutting away comprises pulling a handle.
24. A method for quickly removing a garment, the method comprising:
wearing a cutaway garment of claim 8 ; and
cutting away the cutaway garment to disconnect the front portion from the rear portion, and the cummerbund from the rear portion.
25. The method of claim 24 wherein the cutting away comprises pulling a handle.
26. A method for quickly removing a garment, the method comprising:
wearing a cutaway garment of claim 14 ; and
cutting away the cutaway garment to disconnect the front portion from the rear portion, and the cummerbund from the rear portion.
27. The method of claim 26 wherein the cutting away comprises pulling a handle.
28. A method for quickly removing a garment, the method comprising:
wearing a cutaway garment having a front portion having a torso portion, spaced-apart shoulder portions, and opposite side portions, a rear portion having a torso portion spaced-apart shoulder portions, opposite side portions, and a cummerbund portion; and
cutting away the spaced-apart shoulder portions of the front portion from the spaced-apart shoulder portions of the rear portion, the side portions of the rear portion from the rear portion, and a portion of thy-cummerbund from the rear portion.
29. The method of claim 28 wherein the cutting away comprises pulling a handle.
30. The method of claim 28 wherein the cutting away comprises disconnecting at least one cable from a loop.
31. The method of claim 28 wherein the cutting away comprises disconnecting a plurality of cable from a plurality of loops.
