Abstract

A transflective-type liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of gate and data lines crossing each other on a substrate to define a plurality of pixel regions, a thin film transistor at each crossing of the gate and data lines, the thin film transistor including a semiconductor layer, and source and drain electrodes contacting source and drain regions, respectively, a projection seed pattern within the pixel region along a same layer as the semiconductor layer of the thin film transistor, and a reflective electrode contacting the drain electrode of the thin film transistor and having a reflective projection corresponding to the projection seed pattern.

Claims (11)

1. A transflective-type liquid crystal display device, comprising:

a plurality of gate and data lines crossing each other on a substrate to define a plurality of pixel regions;

a thin film transistor at each crossing of the gate and data lines, the thin film transistor including a semiconductor layer, and source and drain electrodes contacting source and drain regions, respectively;

a projection seed pattern within the pixel region along a same layer as the semiconductor layer of the thin film transistor; and

a reflective electrode contacting the drain electrode of the thin film transistor and having a reflective projection corresponding to the projection seed pattern.

2. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the projection seed pattern includes a buffer layer and a polysilicon layer.

3. The device according to claim 2 , wherein the buffer layer includes an inorganic insulating material.

4. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the reflective projection is formed along the projection seed pattern.

5. The device according to claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of insulating layers formed between the reflective projection and the projection seed pattern.

6. The device according to claim 5 , further comprising a transmitting electrode between the reflective electrode and the insulating layers.

7. The device according to claim 6 , wherein the drain electrode of the thin film transistor is connected to the reflective electrode by the transmitting electrode.
