Abstract

A juice extractor may include a juice extraction assembly and a drive assembly connected thereto. The drive assembly may include a shaft, at least one cam having a hub, and a shaft-hub coupler frictionally securing the shaft and the hub of the at least one cam together. For example, the at least one cam may include at least one cup-drive cam. Each of the shaft and the hub of the at least one cup-drive cam may be cylindrically shaped and devoid of keying. Accordingly, the cup-drive, shaft-hub coupler permits ready attachment of the cup-drive cam to the drive shaft. One or more orifice tube-drive cams may be similarly secured to the shaft with a frictional shaft-hub coupler.

Claims (54)

1. A juice extractor comprising:

a plurality of extractor cups arranged in pairs for squeezing fruit therebetween;

a motor;

a shaft connected to said motor;

a plurality of cup-drive cams, each cam having a hub;

a respective cup-drive member connected between said plurality of cup-drive cams and said plurality of extractor cups;

said plurality of cup-drive cams further comprising at least one alignment feature for facilitating relative alignment thereof and including an opening formed in each of said plurality of cup-drive cams at a predetermined position to permit an alignment rod to be inserted through the openings when properly relatively aligned, said at least one alignment feature being offset from said shaft.

2. A juice extractor according to claim 1 further comprising:

a plurality of orifice tubes associated with said plurality of extractor cups;

at least one orifice tube-drive cam having a hub;

an orifice tube-drive, shaft-hub coupler frictionally securing said shaft and the hub of said at least one orifice-tube drive cam together; and

at least one orifice tube-drive member connected between said at least one orifice tube-drive cam and said orifice tubes.

3. A juice extractor according to claim 2 wherein said at least one orifice tube-drive cam also comprises at least one alignment feature for facilitating relative alignment thereof.

4. A juice extractor according to claim 3 wherein said at least one alignment feature of said at least one orifice tube-drive cam comprises an opening formed in said at least one orifice tube-drive cam at a predetermined position to permit an alignment rod to be inserted through the openings when properly relatively aligned.

5. A juice extractor according to claim 1 wherein each cup-drive, shaft-hub coupler comprises inner and outer rings having tapered overlapping surfaces and a plurality of fasteners for urging said inner and outer rings axially together.

6. A juice extractor according to claim 5 wherein each cup-drive, shaft-hub coupler further comprises a flange connected to said inner ring.

7. A juice extractor according to claim 1 wherein each cup-drive cam comprises an integrally formed monolithic cam body having an opening therethrough defining the hub.

8. A juice extractor comprising:

a plurality of extractor cups arranged in pairs for squeezing fruit therebetween;

a motor;

a shaft connected to said motor;

a plurality of cup-drive cams, each having a hub;

a plurality of cup-drive, shaft-hub couplers frictionally securing said shaft and each respective hub of said plurality of cup-drive cams together;

each of said plurality of cup-drive cams further comprising at least one alignment feature for facilitating the relative alignment thereof;

each of said shaft and the hubs of said plurality of cup-drive cams being cylindrically shaped and devoid of keying; and

at least one cup-drive member connected between said plurality of cup-drive cams and said plurality of extractor cups;

said at least one alignment feature comprising an opening formed in each of said plurality of cup-drive cams at a predetermined position to permit an alignment rod to be inserted through the openings when properly relatively aligned, said at least one alignment feature being offset from said shaft.

9. A juice extractor according to claim 8 further comprising:

a plurality of orifice tubes associated with said plurality of extractor cups;

a plurality of orifice tube-drive cams;

a respective orifice tube-drive, shaft-hub coupler frictionally securing said shaft and each hub of said plurality of orifice-tube drive cams together; and

at least one orifice tube-drive member connected between said plurality of orifice tube-drive cams and said orifice tubes.

10. A juice extractor according to claim 9 wherein each of said plurality of orifice tube-drive cams further comprises at least one alignment feature for facilitating relative alignment with said plurality of cup-drive cams.

11. A juice extractor according to claim 8 wherein said cup-drive and orifice tube-drive, shaft-hub couplers each comprises inner and outer rings having tapered overlapping surfaces and a plurality of fasteners for urging said inner and outer rings axially together.

12. A juice extractor according to claim 11 wherein each of said cup-drive and orifice tube-drive, shaft-hub couplers further comprises a flange connected to said inner ring.

13. A juice extractor according to claim 8 wherein each of said plurality of cup-drive cams comprises an integrally formed monolithic cam body having an opening therethrough defining the hub.

14. A juice extractor comprising:

a juice extraction assembly and a drive assembly connected thereto;

said drive assembly comprising

a shaft,

a plurality of cams, each cam having a hub, and

a plurality of shaft-hub couplers frictionally securing said shaft and the respective hubs of said plurality of cams together,

each of said plurality of cams further comprising at least one alignment feature for facilitating relative alignment thereof and including an opening formed in each of said plurality of cams at a predetermined position to permit an alignment rod to be inserted through the openings when properly relatively aligned, said at least one alignment feature being offset from said shaft.

15. A juice extractor according to claim 14 wherein each of said shaft and the hub of said at least one cam is cylindrically shaped and devoid of keying.

16. A juice extractor according to claim 14 wherein each shaft-hub coupler comprises inner and outer rings having tapered overlapping surfaces and a plurality of fasteners for urging said inner and outer rings axially together.
