Abstract

A juice extractor includes an extractor frame, at least one pair of extractor cups relatively moveable to each other, a strainer tube that receives juice and pulp and discharges juice therefrom, and a juice manifold positioned to collect the juice discharged from the strainer tube. The strainer tube is bottom loaded on the juice manifold and includes a sealing assembly for sealing the strainer tube relative to the juice manifold. In one aspect of the present invention, the sealing assembly includes an annular beveled surface positioned on an inside surface of the juice manifold through which the strainer tube is received. A gasket is positioned between the annular beveled surface and strainer tube that is compressed and provides a seal therebetween.

Claims (32)

1. A juice extractor comprising:

an extractor frame;

at least one pair extractor cups being relatively movable to each other;

a strainer tube mounted to receive juice and pulp and discharge juice therefrom;

an orifice tube movable within the strainer tube for generating pressure within the strainer tube to aid in discharging juice from the strainer tube; and

a juice manifold positioned to collect the juice discharged from the strainer tube, wherein the strainer tube is bottom loaded and mounted on the juice manifold, and including a sealing assembly for sealing the strainer tube relative to the juice manifold, said sealing assembly including an annular beveled surface positioned on an inside surface of the juice manifold through which the strainer tube is received, a gasket positioned between the annular beveled surface and strainer tube that is compressed and provides a seal therebetween, a threaded collar positioned on an inside surface of the juice manifold through which the strainer tube is received and on which the annular beveled surface is formed, and a threaded insert that is received over an end of the strainer tube and received within the threaded collar on an outside surface of the juice manifold.

2. A juice extractor according to claim 1 , wherein said annular beveled surface is formed integral with the juice manifold.

3. A juice extractor according to claim 1 , wherein said annular beveled surface includes an internally threaded portion, and threads positioned on the strainer tube for securing the strainer tube relative to the juice manifold.

4. A juice extractor according to claim 1 , and further comprising a shoulder formed on the strainer tube on which the gasket and the threaded insert engage.

5. A juice extractor according to claim 1 , and further comprising a snap ring positioned at an end of the strainer tube that maintains the threaded insert on the strainer tube.

6. A juice extractor according to claim 1 , and further comprising a ring gasket positioned between the threaded collar and an inside surface of the juice manifold that is compressed as the threaded insert is tightened within the threaded collar.

7. A juice extractor according to claim 1 , wherein the juice manifold includes a side outlet positioned at a side of the extractor frame.

8. A juice extractor according to claim 1 , wherein the juice manifold extends transversely within the extractor frame.

9. A juice extractor comprising:

an extractor frame;

a plurality of movable extractor cups;

a plurality of fixed extractor cups;

a drive mechanism operative with the moveable extractor cups for driving the moveable extractor cups into and out of engagement with the fixed extractor cups;

a strainer tube associated with each fixed extractor cup and mounted to receive juice and pulp and discharge juice through the strainer tube;

an orifice tube movable within each strainer tube for generating pressure within each strainer tube to aid in discharging juice from each strainer tube; and

a juice manifold extending transversely within the extractor frame and positioned to collect the juice discharged from each strainer tube, wherein each strainer tube is bottom loaded and mounted on the juice manifold, and including a sealing assembly for sealing each strainer tube relative to the juice manifold, said sealing assembly comprises an annular beveled surface positioned on an inside surface of the juice manifold through which each strainer tube is received, a gasket positioned between the annular beveled surface and each strainer tube that is compressed and provides a seal therebetween, a threaded collar positioned on an inside surface of the juice manifold at each position through which the strainer tube is received, and a threaded insert that is received over an end of the strainer tube and received within the threaded collar on an outside surface of the juice manifold and tightened for sealing the respective strainer tube relative to the juice manifold.

10. A juice extractor according to claim 9 , wherein each annular beveled surface is formed integral with the juice manifold.

11. A juice extractor according to claim 9 , wherein each annular beveled surface includes an internally threaded portion, and threads positioned on each strainer tube for securing the strainer tube relative to the juice manifold.

12. A juice extractor according to claim 9 , and further comprising a shoulder formed on the strainer tube on which the gasket and the threaded insert engage.

13. A juice extractor according to claim 9 , and further comprising a snap ring positioned at an end of the strainer tube that maintains the threaded insert on the strainer tube.

14. A juice extractor according to claim 9 , and further comprising a ring gasket positioned between the threaded collar and an inside surface of the juice manifold that is compressed as the threaded insert is tightened within the threaded collar.

15. A juice extractor according to claim 9 , wherein the juice manifold includes a side outlet positioned at a side of the extractor frame.

16. A juice extractor according to claim 9 , and further comprising a cup bridge including lower extractor cups mounted thereon and fixed within the extractor frame.

17. A method for forming a juice extractor comprising at least one pair of extractor cups being relatively movable to each other, a strainer tube mounted to receive juice and pulp and discharge juice therefrom, and an orifice tube movable within the strainer tube for generating pressure within the strainer tube to aid in discharging juice from the strainer tube in a juice manifold, the method comprising:

bottom loading the strainer tube within the juice manifold; and

sealing the strainer tube relative to the juice manifold through an annular beveled surface positioned on an inside surface of the juice manifold through which the strainer tube is received, a gasket positioned between the annular beveled surface and strainer tube that is compressed and provides a seal therebetween, a threaded collar positioned on an inside surface of the juice manifold through which the strainer tube is received and on which the annular beveled surface is formed, and a threaded insert that is received over an end of the strainer tube and received within the threaded collar on an outside surface of the juice manifold.

18. A method according to claim 17 , which further comprises forming the annular beveled surface integral with the juice manifold.
