Abstract

A fitting for collecting or distributing high-pressure fluid via fluid transmission lines is provided. The fitting includes a body, and a plurality of apertures formed in the body in a common plane, intersecting inside the body such that all of the apertures are in mutual fluid communication. The fitting also includes first and second compression members positioned on opposing sides of the body and coupled thereto so as to exert a compressing bias to the body in an axis perpendicular to the common plane. The compression members each comprise a raised contact surface corresponding to the region of the body where the plurality of apertures meet, and through which the compressing bias is exerted. The fitting may be an elbow-fitting, a tee fitting, a cross-fitting, or some other configuration.

Claims (23)

1. A fitting for collecting and distributing pressurized fluid via fluid transmission lines, comprising:

a body;

a plurality of channels formed in the body in a common plane, the plurality of channels traversing the body and intersecting inside the body, the plurality of channels being in mutual fluid communication;

first and second compression members positioned on opposing sides of the body with respect to a first axis perpendicular to the common plane;

a first compression prominence protruding from the first compression member and aligned with the intersection of the plurality of channels along the first axis, the first compression prominence contacting a first outer surface of the body;

a second compression prominence protruding from the second compression member and aligned with the intersection of the plurality of channels along the first axis, the second compression prominence contacting a second outer surface of the body, opposed to the first surface;

at least a first biasing member laterally spaced from the first and second compression prominences in a first direction, the first biasing member configured to bias the first and second compression members toward each other; and

at least a second biasing member laterally spaced from the first and second compression prominences in a second direction, the second biasing member configured to bias the first and second compression members toward each other.

2. The fitting of claim 1 wherein the first and second compression members respectively contact the body only at the first and second prominences.

3. The fitting of claim 1 , further comprising:

a plurality of coupling apertures respectively formed toward an end of the plurality of channels toward a perimeter of the body, each of the plurality of coupling apertures being configured to receive a threaded coupling member of a respective fluid transmission line.

4. The fitting of claim 1 , further comprising:

a plurality of apertures formed in the body; and

a plurality of apertures formed in the first and second compression members, respectively, the first and second biasing members including a plurality of threaded fasteners respectively traversing the plurality of apertures in each of the body and the first and second compression members.

5. The fitting of claim 1 , further comprising first and second compression apertures formed on opposing faces of the body along the first axis and configured to receive the first and second compression prominences, respectively.

6. The fitting of claim 1 wherein the fitting is of a type chosen from among an elbow-fitting, a tee fitting, and a cross-fitting.

7. A fitting for collecting and distributing pressurized fluid via fluid transmission lines, comprising:

a body;

a plurality of channels formed in the body in a common place, the plurality of channels traversing the body and intersecting inside the body, the plurality of channels being in mutual fluid communication;

first and second compression members positioned on opposing sides of the body with respect to an axis perpendicular to the common plane, the first and second compression members having first and second compression prominences, respectively, the first and second compression prominences respectively protruding from the first and second compression members and being aligned with the intersection of the plurality of channels along the axis, the first compression prominence contacting a first outer surface of the body, the second compression prominence contacting a second outer surface of the body, opposed to the first surface;

a plurality of threaded fasteners;

a plurality of apertures formed in the body; and

a plurality of apertures formed in the first and second compression members, respectively, the plurality of fasteners respectively traversing the plurality of apertures in each of the body and the first and second compression members, the plurality of fasteners being laterally spaced from the first and second compression prominences, and configured to bias the first and second compression members toward each other.
