Abstract

A power tool control system includes a first and a second laser source which emit a first and second laser beam to provide information (readings) on the settings of a power tool to which the laser sources are attached. The first and second laser sources are communicatively coupled with a graphical user interface which enables user control over and display of the information gathered from the first and second laser sources. In operation with a power tool, the graphical user interface of the power tool control system provides a user with selectable control over the power tool through the computation and display of multiple power tool settings.

Claims (13)

1 . A power tool control system, for use with a table saw including a saw blade connected to a motor and extending through a table connected with a fence, comprising:

a first laser source connected to a first end of a table of a table saw, the first laser source for providing a first reading;

a second laser source connected to the first end of the table, the second laser source for providing a second reading;

a graphical user interface communicatively coupled with the first laser source and the second laser source, the graphical user interface for providing a display of information to a user,

wherein the first and second laser sources in communication with the graphical user interface display at least one power tool setting selected from the group consisting of a saw blade height, a saw blade bevel angle, a distance from the saw blade to the fence.

2 . The power tool control system of claim 1 , wherein the graphical user interface is communicatively coupled with the first and second laser sources via a wireless communication technology.

3 . The power tool control system of claim 1 , further comprising a target.

4 . The power tool control system of claim 3 , wherein the target is communicatively coupled with the graphical user interface.

5 . The power tool control system of claim 1 , further comprising at least three laser sources.

6 . The power tool control system of claim 1 , wherein the first and second laser sources are modular components capable of being removed from the table.

7 . The power tool control system of claim 1 , wherein the first and second laser sources are retro-fitted to a power tool.

8 . The power tool control system of claim 1 , wherein the first and second laser sources include a first and second housing.

9 . The power tool control system of claim 1 , wherein the first or second housing connects with the graphical user interface.
