Abstract

A display device has a display panel, a frame, and an elastic spacer arranged on the periphery of the display panel in parallel to the edge of the display panel. The elastic spacer is arranged between the display panel and the frame, and the hardness of the elastic spacer is varied along the length-side direction of the elastic spacer.

Claims (26)

1. A display device comprising:

a display panel;

a frame having a rectangular shape with four sides; and

a plurality of elastic spacers, respective ones of the elastic spacers being arranged on one of each of the four sides of the frame, each of the elastic spacers being arranged between a substrate surface of the display panel and a respective one of the four sides of the frame which overlies the substrate surface of the display panel;

wherein respective ones of the elastic spacers have a center portion and end portions extending in a length-side direction, and the center portion and the end portions have contact surfaces which contact with the respective sides of frame which overlies the display panel and with the substrate surface of the display panel, and a width of the contact surfaces of the center portion and a width of the contact surfaces of the end portions being different.

2. A display device comprising:

a display panel;

a first frame and a second frame, each of the first frame and the second frame have the shape of a rectangle with four sides; and

a plurality of first elastic spacers and a plurality of second elastic spacers, respective ones of the first and second elastic spacers being arranged on one of each of the four sides of the first and second frames, respectively, each of the first elastic spacers being arranged between a first substrate surface of the display panel and a respective one of the four sides of the first frame which overlies the first substrate surface of the display panel, and each of the second elastic spacers being arranged between a second substrate surface of the display panel and a respective one of the sides of the second frame which overlies the second substrate surface of the display panel;

wherein respective ones of the first elastic spacers and the second elastic spacers have a center portion and end portions extending in a length-side direction, and the center portion and the end portions of the first and second elastic spacers have contact surfaces which contact with respective sides of the first and second frames, which overlie the first and second substrates of the display panel and with the first and second substrate surfaces of the display panel, and a width of the contact surfaces of the center portion and a width of the contact surfaces of the end portions being different.

3. A display device according to claim 1 , wherein the hardness of the elastic spacer varies along the length-side direction of the elastic spacer.

4. A display device according to claim 2 , wherein the hardness of at least one of the first elastic spacer and the second elastic spacer varies along the length-side direction of the elastic spacer.

5. A display device according to claim 4 , wherein the hardness of the first elastic spacer varies along the length-side direction of the elastic spacer, and the second elastic spacer is arranged to correspond in location to the first elastic spacer,

and the hardness of a first portion of the second elastic spacer which corresponds in location to a high-hardness portion of the first elastic spacer is low, and hardness of a second portion of the second elastic spacer which corresponds in location to low-hardness portion of the first elastic spacer is high.

6. A display device according to claim 3 , wherein the hardness of the center portion and the hardness of the end portions are different.

7. A display device according to claim 4 , wherein the hardness of the center portion and the hardness of the end portions thereof are different.

8. A display device according to claim 5 , wherein the hardness of the center portion and the hardness of the end portions thereof is different.

9. A display device according to claim 3 , wherein the change of hardness of the elastic spacer is gradual.

10. A display device according to claim 3 , wherein the elastic spacer is arranged at plural edges of the panel.

11. A display device according to claim 4 , wherein the hardness of the first elastic spacer and the hardness of the second elastic spacer are substantially equal at a corner portion of the panel.

12. A display device according to claim 1 , wherein the width of the center portion is wider than the width of the end portions.

13. A display device according to claim 1 , wherein the width of the center portion is smaller than the width of the end portions.

14. A display device according to claim 2 , wherein the width of the center portion is wider than the width of the end portions.

15. A display device according to claim 2 , wherein the width of the center portion is smaller than the width of the end portions.

16. A display device according to claim 2 , wherein the width of the center portion of the first elastic member is wider than the width of the end portions of the first elastic members, the width of the center portion of the second elastic members is smaller than the width of the end portions of the second elastic members.

17. A display device according to claim 2 , wherein the width of the center portion of the first elastic members is smaller than the width of the end portions of the first elastic members, the width of the center portion of the second elastic members is wider than the width of the end portions of the second elastic members.
