Concrete cleaning and preparation composition
View Patent ↗A concrete cleaning and preparation composition is described, which includes urea hydrochloride, surfactant, water, and one or more glycol ethers. Also described is a method of preparing a concrete surface, including pre-wetting a concrete surface, using a cleaning and preparation composition, including urea hydrochloride, a surfactant, water, and one or more glycol ethers, and rinsing the concrete surface. Furthermore, a kit for cleaning, preparing, and coating concrete including a cleaning and preparation composition including urea hydrochloride, and a coating is also described.
1. A concrete cleaning and preparation composition, comprising greater than about 4 wt. % urea hydrochloride, about 0.1 wt. % to about 4 wt. % of one or more glycol ethers, surfactant, and water, wherein the urea hydrochloride to surfactant ratio is, by weight, about 25:1 about 50:1, and wherein the pH of the composition is -0.04 to 0.72.
2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the glycol ethers to surfactant ratio is, by weight, about 5:1 or greater.
3. The composition of claim 1 , further comprising:
one or more corrosion inhibitors, wherein the corrosion inhibitor to surfactant ratio is, by weight, from about 0.1:1 to about 20:1.
4. The composition of claim 2 , further comprising one or more of a colorant, fragrance, alcohol, terpene hydrocarbon, di-basic ester, or petroleum distillate.
5. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the glycol ethers to surfactant ratio is, by weight, from about 8:1 to about 12:1.
6. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the one or more glycol ethers comprise dipropylene glycol methyl ether and propylene glycol n-butyl ether.
7. The composition of claim 5 , wherein the dipropylene glycol methyl ether to propylene glycol n-butyl ether ratio is, by weight, from about 1.5:1 to about 3:1.
8. A concrete cleaning and preparation composition, comprising:
about 4 wt. % to about 33 wt. % urea hydrochloride;
about 0.02 wt. % to about 1 wt. % surfactant;
water; and
one or more glycol ethers present at a concentration from about 0.1 wt. % to about 4 wt.
wherein the composition etches a concrete surface, and wherein the pH of the composition is -0.04 to 0.72.
9. The composition of claim 8 , wherein the one or more glycol ethers comprise dipropylene glycol methyl ether and propylene glycol n-butyl ether, and wherein, the dipropylene glycol methyl ether to propylene glycol n-butyl ether ratio is, by weight, from about 1.5:1 to about 3:1.
10. The composition of claim 8 , further comprising one or more corrosion inhibitors present at a concentration from about 0.02 wt. % to about 1 wt. %.
11. The composition of claim 10 , further comprising one or more of a colorant, fragrance, alcohol, terpene hydrocarbon, di-basic ester, or petroleum distillate.
12. The composition of claim 8 , wherein the composition comprises about 5 wt. % to about 15 wt. % urea hydrochloride.
13. The composition of claim 8 , wherein the composition comprises about 6 wt. % to about 12 wt. % urea hydrochloride.
14. The composition of claim 8 , wherein the composition comprises about 8 wt. % to about 10 wt. % urea hydrochloride.
