Abstract

The present invention provides a new process and intermediates for the production of antiviral compound 4′,4-bis-{4,6-bis-[3-(bis-carbamoyl-methyl-1-sulfamoyl)-phenylamino]-[1,3,5]triazin-2-ylamino}-biphenyl-2,2′-disulfonic acid and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts.

Claims (4)

1. A method for preparation of 2-[Carbamoylmethyl-(3-nitro-benzenesulfonyl)-amino]acetamide, the method comprising reacting 2-(3-Nitro-benzenesulfonylamino)acetamide with N,N-Dimethylformamide in the presence of ClCH 2 CONH 2 and a base.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the base is sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising an initial step of preparing 2-(3-Nitro-benzenesulfonylamino)-acetamide by reacting 3-Nitro-benzenesulfonyl chloride with aminoglycine hydrochloride or its free base in a basic reaction medium.

4. A compound, 2-(3-Nitro-benzenesulfonylamino)-acetamide.
