Abstract

An OLED device comprises an anode and a cathode and located there-between a light emitting layer containing a light emitting dopant and a host comprising a monoanthracene derivative.

Claims (48)

1. An OLED device having an anode and a cathode and located there-between a light emitting layer comprising:

a) a host including a monoanthracene derivative of formula (I):

wherein

R 1 -R 8 are H;

R 9 is an unsubstituted naphthyl;

R 10 is an unsubstituted biphenyl; and

b) a guest emitting material or materials comprising a member selected from the group consisting of derivatives of perylene, quinacridone and aminostyryl in the range of 0.6% to 4% by volume.

2. The OLED device of claim 1 wherein the guest emitting material comprises:

3. The OLED device of claim 2 wherein the guest emitting material includes N,N′-diphenylquinacridone.

4. An OLED device comprising an anode and a cathode and located there-between a light emitting layer containing a light emitting dopant and a host comprising a monoanthracene derivative of formula (I):

wherein

R 1 -R 8 are H;

R 9 is an unsubstituted naphthyl;

R 10 is an unsubstituted biphenyl; and

wherein the OLED device includes one or more light emitting layers with compounds sufficient to emit white light.

5. The OLED device of claim 4 further including a colored filter.

6. An OLED device having an anode and a cathode and located there-between a light emitting layer comprising:

a) a host including a monoanthracene derivative of formula (I):

wherein

R 1 -R 8 are H;

R 9 is an unsubstituted naphthyl;

R 10 is an unsubstituted biphenyl; and

b) a co-host; and

c) a light-emitting dopant, wherein the light emitting dopant comprises a member selected from the group consisting of derivatives of perylene, quinacridone and aminostyryl in the range of 0.6% to 4% by volume.

7. The OLED device of claim 6 wherein the co-host is polymeric.

8. The OLED device of claim 6 wherein the co-host is an oxinoid compound.

9. The OLED device of claim 8 wherein the oxinoid is Alq.

11. The OLED device of claim 6 wherein the light emitting dopant is N,N′-diphenylquinacridone.

12. An OLED device comprising an anode and a cathode and located there-between a light emitting layer containing a light emitting dopant and a host comprising a monoanthracene derivative of formula (I):

wherein

R 1 -R 8 are H;

R 9 is an unsubstituted naphthyl; and

R 10 is an unsubstituted biphenyl;

wherein the light emitting material comprises a member selected from the group consisting of derivatives of perylene, quinacridone and aminostyryl in the range of 0.6% to 4% by volume; and

wherein the OLED device includes a hole-blocking layer.

13. A light emitting device comprising a plurality of stacked organic light emitting devices wherein at least one light emitting layer contains a light emitting dopant and a host comprising a monoanthracene derivative of formula (I):

wherein

R 1 -R 8 are H;

R 9 is an unsubstituted naphthyl;

R 10 is an unsubstituted biphenyl; and

wherein the light emitting dopant comprises a member selected from the group consisting of derivatives of perylene, quinacridone and aminostyryl in the range of 0.6% to 4% by volume.

14. The OLED device of claim 1 wherein the guest emitting material is a perylene derivative.

15. The OLED device of claim 1 wherein the guest emitting material is a quinacridone derivative.
