Abstract

The present invention relates to methods for treating neurological-urological conditions. This is accomplished by administration of at least one neurotoxin.

Claims (9)

1. A method for treating a disorder selected from the group consisting of benign prostatic hyperplasia, abacterial prostatis, or prostatodynia in a patient suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia, abacterial prostatis, or prostatodynia, the method comprising administering a botulinum toxin to the prostate of the patient, thereby treating the disorder.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient is a human.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient is a human male.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the botulinum toxin is a botulinum toxin type A.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the botulinum toxin is administered in a pharmaceutically acceptable formulation selected from the group consisting of:

a liquid, a cream, an emulsion, a suspension, and a solution.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the botulinum toxin is administered in an amount of up to 2500 units.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the botulinum toxin is administered in an injectable, pharmaceutically acceptable formulation selected from the group consisting of a liquid, a cream, an emulsion, a suspension, and a solution.

8. A method for treating a disorder selected from the group consisting of benign prostatic hyperplasia, abacterial prostatis, or prostatodynia in a patient suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia, abacterial prostatis or prostatodynia, the method comprising administering urethroscopically a botulinum toxin type A into the prostate of the patient; in an amount of up to 2500 units, thereby treating the disorder.
