Double-sided print engine assembly
View Patent ↗A double sided print engine assembly includes opposed rollers to transport paper to be printed. Mounted adjacent the opposed rollers are corresponding opposed ink supply moldings. The ink supply moldings include arcuate portions that terminate proximal the nip of the opposed rollers and which support opposing printheads. By locating the printheads close to the nip they print upon a taut portion of the paper thereby resulting in more accurate deposition of ink drops on the paper.
1. A double-sided print engine assembly including:
opposed rollers to transport print media;
opposed printing fluid supply moldings mounted adjacent corresponding said opposed rollers; and
printheads mounted upon the moldings so as to be within a print zone defined between the nip of said opposed rollers and a non-nip intersecting common tangential plane of said opposed rollers, the printheads being arranged to print printing fluid onto print media in the print zone;
whereby in use the printheads are located close to the nip in order that they print upon taut print media.
2. A double-sided print engine assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said supply moldings include a number of printing fluid conduits in communication with the printheads.
3. A double-sided double-sided print engine assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the moldings include air conduits in communication with the printheads.
4. A double-sided print engine assembly according to claim 1 , including one or more printhead controller circuits in communication with the printheads.
5. A double-sided print engine assembly according to claim 4 , including flexible printed circuit boards coupling the one or more printhead controller circuits to the printheads.
6. A double-sided print engine assembly according to claim 5 , wherein the printhead controller circuits comprise paired identical printed circuit boards.
7. A double-sided print engine assembly according to claim 1 , including a frame and endplates, wherein the supply moldings are attached to the frame by means of the endplates.
