Claims (39)

1. A method of presenting information associated with a customer to a customer service representative (CSR), the method comprising:

presenting a graphical user interface (GUI), the GUI comprising a window having:

a first window section allowing the CSR to enter data;

a second window section displaying information identifying a customer; and

a third window section displaying one of a plurality of categories of transaction information associated with the customer wherein one of the plurality of categories of transaction information is a billing category including information regarding at least one bill of the customer; and

changing the category of transaction information displayed in the third window section while persistently displaying at least one of the first window section and the second window section.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining which of the first window section and the second window section are to be persistently displayed based on input received from the CSR.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the category of transaction information displayed in the third window section comprises information associated with a telecommunications carrier that provides services to the customer.

4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising masking a portion of the information associated with the telecommunications carrier if the CSR does not represent the telecommunications carrier associated with the transaction information.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying, as part of the GUI, at least one link to information associated with a first telecommunications provider, wherein the CSR represents a second telecommunications provider different than the first telecommunications provider.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising presenting, as part of the GUI, information associated with the customer's creditworthiness.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the category of transaction information displayed comprises at least one of the following: local carrier information, long distance carrier information, wireless carrier information, and contact history information.

8. A system comprising:

a processor;

memory operably associated with said processor; and

instructions stored in said memory and executable by said processor to generate a graphical user interface (GUI) for use by a customer service representative (CSR), said GUI comprising a window having:

a first window section allowing the CSR to enter data;

a second window section displaying information identifying a customer; and

a third window section displaying one of a plurality of categories of transaction information associated with the customer identification information wherein one of the plurality of categories of transaction information is a billing category including information regarding at least one bill of the customer and further

wherein the category of information displayed in the in the third window section is selectable by the CSR, and at least one of the first and second window sections is displayed persistently independent of the category of information displayed in the third window section.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the program of executable instructions is configured to determine which of the first window section and the second window section are to be persistently displayed based on input received from the CSR.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the category of transaction information displayed in the third window section comprises information associated with a telecommunications carrier that provides services to the customer.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein at least a portion of the information associated with the telecommunications carrier is masked if the CSR does not represent the telecommunications carrier associated with the transaction information.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the GUI comprises at least one link to information associated with a first telecommunications provider, wherein the CSR represents a second telecommunications provider different than the first telecommunications provider.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the GUI comprises a window section to present information associated with the customer's creditworthiness.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the category of transaction information displayed comprises at least one of the following: local carrier information, long distance carrier information, wireless carrier information, contact history information, and billing information.

15. A computer readable medium tangibly embodying a program of executable instructions, said program of instructions comprising:

at least one instruction to present a graphical user interface (GUI) window for use by a customer service representative (CSR), wherein the GUI window includes:

a first window portion for entry of data by the CSR;

a second window portion displaying information identifying a customer; and

a third window portion for displaying transaction information associated with the customer; and

at least one instruction to select a transaction information category from a set of transaction information categories wherein one of the set of information categories is a billing category including information regarding at least one bill of the customer;

at least one instruction to update the third window portion to display information associated with the selected transaction information category while persistently displaying at least one of the first and second window portions.

16. The computer readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the GUI further comprises a fourth window portion displaying product information associated with the identified customer.

17. The computer readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the first, second, and third portions comprise non overlapping portions of the GUI window.

18. The computer readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the at least one instruction to update comprises at least one instruction to update the third window portion to display information associated with the selected transaction information while persistently displaying the first and second window portions.

19. The computer readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the third window portion display a set of tabs wherein each tab is associated with a corresponding category of transaction information, wherein said at least one instruction to update the third window portion includes at least one instruction to detect a tab selected by the CSR.

20. The computer readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the transaction information displayed in the third portion is indicative of a telecommunications carrier that provides services to the customer.

21. The computer readable medium of claim 20 , further comprising at least one instruction to mask at least a portion of the information associated with the telecommunications carrier if the CSR does not represent the telecommunications carrier associated with the transaction information.
