Abstract

Golf balls comprising thermoplastic, thermoset, castable, or millable elastomer compositions are presently disclosed. These elastomer compositions comprise reaction products of polyisocyanates and telechelic polymers having isocyanate-reactive end-groups such as hydroxyl groups and/or amine groups. These elastomer compositions can be used in any one or more portions of the golf balls, such as inner center, core, inner core layer, intermediate core layer, outer core layer, intermediate layer, cover, inner cover layer, intermediate cover layer, and/or outer cover layer.

Claims (7)

1. A golf ball comprising a core and at least one layer over the core, wherein the layer is formed from a composition comprising at least one fatty polyisocyanate, wherein the fatty polyisocyanate comprises a main carbon chain comprising at least 8 carbon atoms, and wherein the fatty polyisocyanate comprises at least one pendant linear or branched alkyl group attached to the main carbon chain and comprising 1-20 carbon atoms.

2. A golf ball comprising a core and at least one layer over the core, wherein the layer is formed from a composition comprising at least one fatty polyisocyanate, and wherein the fatty polyisocyanate comprises at least one divalent moiety comprising 30-180 carbon atoms.

3. The golf ball of claim 2 , wherein the divalent moiety is chosen from monocycloaliphatie moieties comprising at least one 6-membered carbon ring, bicycloaliphatic moieties having at least one 10-membered carbon ring, and substituted aliphatic moieties.

A golf ball comprising a core and at least one layer over the core, wherein the layer is formed from a composition comprising at least one fatty polyisocyanate, wherein the fatty polyisocyanate is formed from fatty polyacid or fatty polyamine, and wherein the fatty polyisocyanate is a dimer diisocyanate.

5. The golf ball of claim 4 , wherein the dimer diisocyanate has a structure of:

x+y≧8; and

m+n≧8.
