Abstract

A merchandise support hook mountable to perforated boards through a backing plate having four tabs or ears for supporting the plate on the perforated board. The backing plate upper tabs have a vertical component greater in length than the diameter of the apertures within the perforated board. The lower tabs have a vertical component shorter in length than the diameter of the aperture within the perforated board. This results in minimal tilting of the combined hook and backing plate when inserting or removing the assembly from the perforated board. The hook and backing plate could be a one-piece structure or a two-piece structure where the hook is removably affixed to the backing plate.

Claims (14)

1 . A back plate for supporting a merchandise display hook on a perforated board having a plurality of horizontally and vertically spaced circular apertures, each aperture defining an aperture diameter and arranged in a generally rectangular pattern, said back plate including a hook mounting structure for affixing a merchandise display hook to the back plate, said back plate including a substantially planar surface having a top edge and a bottom edge, a pair of upper tabs extending from said top edge, each of said upper tabs having a vertical component having a height greater than the aperture diameter, and a pair of lower tabs extending from said bottom edge, each of said lower tabs having a vertical component having a height less than the aperture diameter.

2 . The back plate of claim 1 , wherein said upper tab vertical component and said lower tab vertical component are each offset from, but substantially parallel to, said planar surface.

3 . The back plate of claim 1 , further comprising a scanner plate for supporting merchandise labels, said scanner plate integral with and parallel to said planar surface.

4 . The back plate of claim 3 , wherein said scanner plate is integrally connected with said bottom edge of said planar surface.

5 . The back plate of claim 3 , wherein said hook mounting structure is defined by spacing between the scanner plate and planar surface.

6 . The back plate of claim 2 , wherein each of said lower tabs include a horizontal component interconnecting said lower tab vertical component with said planar surface bottom edge, said horizontal component supportable upon the perforated board within the circular aperture.

7 . The back plate of claim 6 , wherein a portion of said vertical component of each of said upper tabs engages the perforated board above the circular aperture into which the upper tabs are inserted.

8 . A scanner plate hook for supporting merchandise and attachable to a perforated board having a plurality of horizontally and vertically-spaced circular apertures, each aperture defining an aperture diameter and arranged in a generally rectangular pattern, said scanner plate hook comprising,

a back plate including a substantially planar plate having a top edge and a bottom edge, a pair of upper tabs extending from said top edge, each of said upper tabs having a vertical component having a height greater than the aperture diameter, and a pair of lower tabs extending from said bottom edge, each of said lower tabs having a vertical component having a height less than the aperture diameter;

a scanner plate for supporting merchandise labels, said scanner plate parallel to said planar plate and integrally connected with said bottom edge of said planar plate; and

a merchandise support hook having a proximal end portion and a distal free end portion, said proximal end portion affixed to at least one of said planar plate and scanner plate, said hook oriented substantially perpendicular to said parallel scanner and back plates.

9 . The scanner plate hook of claim 8 , wherein said hook is affixed between the scanner plate and planar plate.

10 . The scanner plate hook of claim 9 , wherein said scanner plate and planar plate are integrally connected through a pair of connecting bights.

11 . The scanner plate hook of claim 10 , wherein said pair of connecting bights define a space therebetween for receiving the proximal end of said hook.
