Abstract

A warming device includes a clinical garment having an inside surface supporting a convective apparatus with interleaved, separately inflatable sections, each adapted to enable a particular mode of warming.

Claims (51)

1. A warming device, comprising:

a clinical garment with an inside surface; and

a convective apparatus supported on the inside surface;

the convective apparatus including a first section adapted to provide comfort warming by convection and a second section adapted to provide therapeutic warming by convection, the first and second sections being separately inflatable and each including a permeable surface facing the interior of the clinical garment;

the first section including a transverse part, a plurality of elongate parts extending from and in fluid communication with the transverse part, and at least one inlet port;

the second section including a transverse part, a plurality of elongate parts extending from and in fluid communication with the transverse part, and at least one inlet port;

the elongate parts of the first section being interleaved with the elongate parts of the second section.

2. The warming device of claim 1 , wherein the elongate parts of the first section include respective elongate parts having oppositely-directed portions adjacent and parallel to the transverse part of the second section.

3. The warming device of claim 2 , wherein the transverse part of the second section and the oppositely-directed portions extend between and at least partially into sleeves of the clinical garment.

4. The warming device of claim 3 , wherein the transverse part of the second section and each oppositely-directed portions include ends, further including vents at ends of the transverse portion of the second section and vents at the ends of the oppositely-directed portions.

5. The warming device of claim 4 , further including means for securing the convective apparatus to a person.

6. The warming device of claim 5 , wherein the means include double-sided adhesive.

7. The warming device of claim 4 , further including at least one inlet port in each of the first and second sections.

8. The warming device of claim 7 , further including an aperture in the clinical garment to an inlet port of the first section.

9. The warming device of claim 7 , further including a portion of at least one sleeve of the clinical garment separable from a corresponding portion of the sleeve to provide access to an inlet port of the second section.

10. The warming device of claim 1 , further including a portion of at least one sleeve of the clinical garment separable from a corresponding portion of the sleeve and means for releasably joining the sleeve portions.

11. The warming device of claim 1 , wherein the clinical garment is a hospital gown.

12. The warming device of claim 1 , wherein the clinical garment is a poncho type gown.

13. The warming device of claim 1 , wherein the clinical garment is a robe.

14. A warming device, comprising:

a clinical garment with an inside surface; and

a tee-shaped convective apparatus supported on the inside surface;

the convective apparatus including dual sections adapted to provide comfort warming and therapeutic warming by convection, the dual sections being separately inflatable and each including a permeable surface facing the interior of the clinical garment;

a first section including a transverse part, a plurality of elongate parts extending from and in fluid communication with the transverse part, and at least one inlet port,

a second section including a transverse part, a plurality of elongate parts extending from and in fluid communication with the transverse part, and at least one inlet port;

elongate parts of the first section being interleaved with elongate parts of the second section.

15. The warming device of claim 14 , wherein the elongate parts of the first section include respective elongate parts having oppositely-directed portions adjacent and parallel to the transverse part of the second section.

16. The warming device of claim 14 , wherein the transverse part of the second section and the oppositely-directed portions form a cross piece of the tee-shaped convective apparatus extending between and at least partially into sleeves of the clinical garment.

17. The warming device of claim 16 , wherein the transverse part of the second section and each oppositely-directed portions include ends, further including means at ends of the transverse portion of the second section for emitting air from the second section into the sleeves and means at the ends of the oppositely-directed portions for emitting air from the first section into the sleeves.

18. The warming device of claim 17 , further including means for securing the convective apparatus to a person.

19. The warming device of claim 18 , wherein the means for securing include double-sided adhesive.

20. The warming device of claim 17 , further including at least one inlet port in each of the first and second sections.

21. The warming device of claim 20 , further including an aperture in the clinical garment to an inlet port of the first section.

22. The warming device of claim 20 , further including a portion of at least one sleeve of the clinical garment separable from a corresponding portion of the sleeve to provide access to an inlet port of the second section.

23. The warming device of claim 14 , further including a portion of at least one sleeve of the clinical garment separable from a corresponding portion of the sleeve and means for releasably joining the sleeve portions.

24. The warming device of claim 14 , wherein the clinical garment is a hospital gown.

25. The warming device of claim 14 , wherein the clinical garment is a poncho type gown.

26. The warming device of claim 14 , wherein the clinical garment is a robe.

27. A warming device, comprising:

a clinical garment with an inside surface; and

a convective apparatus supported on the inside surface;

the convective apparatus including at least two separately inflatable sections;

each inflatable section including a permeable surface facing the interior of the clinical garment;

a first section including a transverse part, a plurality of elongate parts extending from and in fluid communication with the transverse part, and at least one inlet port;

a second section including a transverse part, a plurality of elongate parts extending from and in fluid communication with the transverse part, and at least one inlet port;

elongate parts of the first section being interleaved with elongate parts of the second section.

28. The warming device of claim 27 , wherein the clinical garment is a hospital gown.

29. The warming device of claim 27 , wherein the clinical garment is a poncho type gown.

30. The warming device of claim 27 , wherein the clinical garment is a robe.

31. The warming device of claim 27 , further including means for securing the convective apparatus to a person.

32. The warming device of claim 31 , wherein the means for securing include double-sided adhesive.
