Abstract

A graphic user interface for controlling a production printer is disclosed. The graphic user interface displays representations of the document to be produced by the production printer. Further, the interface provides visual indicators to indicate the page features applied to the pages of the document. The graphic user interface allows the operator to view the applied page features for each page in the document to verify they are correct prior to producing the document on the production printer. Further, the interface includes a hyperlink to navigate directly to web users.

Claims (41)

1 . An image-forming system comprising:

a graphic user interface with an interconnection architecture having an image-forming management functionality and a document viewing functionality,

where the interconnection architecture comprises a first software application to implement the image-forming management functionality and a second software application to implement the document viewing functionality;

where the first software application uses a plug-in interface with the second software application to share at least one plug-in package with the second software application; and

wherein the interconnection architecture comprises a hyperlink to navigate directly to a website user.

2 . The image-forming system according to claim 1 , where the at least one plug-in package comprises the first software package.

3 . The image-forming system according to claim 1 , where the at least one plug-in package comprises at least one of a page options plug-in package, a print ticket plug-in package, a document plug-in package, and a production print plug-in package.

4 . An image-forming system comprising:

a graphic user interface with an interconnection architecture having an image viewing functionality and an image-forming management functionality,

where the interconnection architecture comprises a first software application and a second software application, the first software application to implement the image viewing functionality, the second software application to implement the image-forming management functionality,

where the first software application provides a plug-in interface used by the second software application;

where the first and second software applications share at least one plug-in package in essentially the same process space,

where the at least one plug-in package comprises the second software application, and

wherein the interconnection architecture comprises a hyperlink to navigate directly to a website user.

5 . The image-forming system according to claim 4 , where the at least one plug-in package comprises at least one of a page options plug-in package, a print ticket plug-in package, a document plug-in package, and a production print plug-in package.

6 . The image-forming system according to claim 4 , where the second software application provides a second plug-in interface.

7 . The image-forming system according to claim 6 , further comprising at least one desktop plug-in package connected to the second plug-in interface.

8 . The image-forming system according to claim 7 ,

where the at least one desktop plug-in package comprises at least one of a print ticket plug-in package and a document plug-in package, and

where the at least one plug-in package comprises at least one of a page options plug-in package and a production print plug-in package.

9 . An image-forming system with a graphical user interface having an interconnection architecture, comprising:

a first software application having a first plug-in interface;

a second software application having a second plug-in interface; and

at least one plug-in package connected to the first and the second plug-in interfaces, where the first and second software applications share the at least one plug-in package in essentially the same process space; and,

a hyperlink to navigate directly to a website user.

10 . The image-forming system according to claim 9 ,

where the first software application provides an image viewing functionality, and

where the second software application provides an image-forming management functionality.

11 . The image-forming system according to claim 9 , where the at least one plug-in package comprises the second software application.

12 . The image-forming system according to claim 9 , where the at least one plug-in package comprises at least one of a page options plug-in package, a print ticket plug-in package, a document plug-in package, and a production print plug-in package.

13 . The image-forming system according to claim 9 , further comprising at least one desktop plug-in package connected to the second plug-in interface.

14 . The image-forming system according to claim 12 ,

where the at least one desktop plug-in package comprises at least one of a print ticket plug-in package and a document plug-in package, and where the at least one plug-in package comprises at least one of a page options plug-in package and a production print plug-in package.

15 . An image-forming system comprising:

a graphic user interface with an interconnection architecture having an image-forming management functionality and a document viewing functionality,

where the interconnection architecture comprises a hyperlink to navigate directly to a website user.

16 . An image-forming system in accordance with claim 15 , further comprising:

first software application to implement the image-forming management functionality and a second software application to implement the document viewing functionality;

where the first software application uses a plug-in interface with the second software application to share at least one plug-in package with the second software application.

17 . The image-forming system according to claim 16 , where the at least one plug-in package comprises the first software package.

18 . The image-forming system according to claim 16 , where the at least one plug-in package comprises at least one of a page options plug-in package, a print ticket plug-in package, a document plug-in package, and a production print plug-in package.
