Abstract

A method and system are disclosed for acquiring and transforming existing content (e.g., Hyper Text Markup Language HTML content) for display and execution on multiple platforms and architectures. In one embodiment, capture templates are created to harvest content from disparate content sources on multiple platforms. Data is extracted from the content from the disparate content sources using the created capture templates that drives extracting process. A standardized data stream is generated from the extracted data. The standardized data stream is provided for display on one or more different type of platforms.

Claims (28)

1. A method comprising:

managing localization and personalization rules for delivering platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets to a plurality of different types of receiving devices for display on a plurality of different types of platforms operating within the receiving devices; and

delivering the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets to the plurality of different types of receiving devices for display on the plurality of different types of platforms based on the localization and personalization rules.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the delivering of the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets includes:

targeting the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets to specific receiving devices using the localization and personalization rules.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the targeting of the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets to the specific receiving devices is based on a type of the specific receiving devices.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the managing of the localization and personalization rules for delivering platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets includes managing the localization and personalization rules for geographic or demographic targeting of the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

generating code or instructions for modifying the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets for optimized display on the plurality of different types of platforms operating within the receiving devices.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the code or instructions for modifying the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets is generated based on a type of the receiving devices.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the delivering of the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets includes integrating the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets into a data transmission for the receiving devices.

8. An apparatus comprising:

a syndication server configured to

manage localization and personalization rules for delivering platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets to a plurality of different types of receiving devices for display on a plurality of different types of platforms operating within the receiving devices; and

deliver the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets to the plurality of different types of receiving devices for display on the plurality of different types of platforms based on the localization and personalization rules.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the syndication server is further configured to target the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets to specific receiving devices using the localization and personalization rules.

10. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the syndication server is further configured to manage the localization and personalization rules for geographic or demographic targeting of the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets.

11. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the syndication server is further configured to generate code or instructions for modifying the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets for optimized display on the plurality of different types of platforms operating within the receiving devices.

12. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the syndication server is further configured to integrate the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets into a data transmission for the receiving devices.

13. An apparatus comprising:

a client device having a memory and configured to

manage localization and personalization rules for delivering platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets to a plurality of different types of receiving devices for display on a plurality of different types of platforms operating within the receiving devices; and

deliver the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets to the plurality of different types of receiving devices for display on the plurality of different types of platforms based on the localization and personalization rules.

14. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the client device is further configured to target the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets to specific receiving devices using the localization and personalization rules.

15. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the client device is further configured to manage the localization and personalization rules for geographic or demographic targeting of the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets.

16. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the client device is further configured to generate code or instructions for modifying the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets for optimized display on the plurality of different types of platforms operating within the receiving devices.

17. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the client device is further configured to integrate the platform-neutral content, interactive services and media assets into a data transmission for the receiving devices.

18. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the client device is a gateway.
