Abstract

The step of putting drops of liquid crystal onto a substrate includes the putting of drops of liquid crystal onto the substrate at spaced intervals of 15 mm or less. Thus, an impurity concentration is made equal to or less than 30 ppm in a region in which the liquid crystals collide with each other when the bonding of the substrates causes diffusion of the liquid crystals through a liquid crystal cell. A liquid crystal dripping apparatus including a branch nozzle having a plurality of discharge openings is used in the step of putting drops of liquid crystal onto the substrate. By a single dispensing operation, the apparatus simultaneously puts drops of liquid crystal onto a plurality of spots on the substrate.

Claims (6)

1. A liquid crystal dripping apparatus comprising:

a stage on which a substrate is placed;

a dispenser which is disposed over the stage and is filled with liquid crystal, the dispenser being capable of controlling the amount of the liquid crystal dispensed; and

a nozzle which is mounted to the bottom of the dispenser so that the liquid crystal is dispensed through the nozzle,

wherein the nozzle has a plurality of discharge openings on its end to discharge the liquid crystal, and the plurality of discharge openings are arranged at given spaced intervals in the transverse direction and at the given spaced intervals in the longitudinal direction.

2. A liquid crystal dripping apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of discharge openings are arranged at spaced intervals of 15 mm or less.
