Abstract

The present invention provides a method for the horizontal stacking of laminations 10 and donuts to form a stator core. A stator generator frame 2 has multiple keybars 6 that run the axial length of the frame. The laminations 10 have grooves 12 there-in that engage the keybars to provide a secure fit of the laminations to the generator frame. By extending two or more of the keybars 6 , these extensions 7 may be used as rails on which the laminations may be horizontally inserted into the stator frame.

Claims (14)

1. A method of horizontally stacking a stator core within a stator frame comprising:

extending from said stator frame a plurality of keybars wherein the extending of said plurality of keybars is performed by the use of screw-ins prosthetics;

mounting a plurality of laminations on the extended keybars;

sliding said plurality of laminations on said plurality of keybars into position in said stator frame;

removing the extensions from said plurality of keybars once the stacking of said stator core is complete.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising placing slide between said plurality of laminations and said plurality of keybars, whereby said slide pads ease the slide of said plurality of laminations on said plurality of keybars.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein said slide pads are removed after said laminations are slid into position.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the extending of said plurality of keybars involves two keybars being extended.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the two keybars being extended are positioned on the lower portion of said stator frame.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the two keybars being extended are positioned approximately in the 4 and 8 position.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the two keybars being extended are positioned approximately in the 5 and 7 position.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein said plurality of keybars being extended terminate in a taper.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein said plurality of keybars are of a building-bolt style.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the mounting of said plurality of laminations is performed with at least one of a crane, a pulley and forklift.
