Abstract

A hearing-aid device comprising a housing and circuitry module, wherein the circuitry module comprises a battery, a microphone, and a receiver, and the circuit module is inserted in the hearing aid housing. The hearing aid device further comprises a retractable battery sleeve, wherein a battery slot is exposed when the battery sleeve is retracted, and a battery can be inserted into the battery slot from either side of the battery slot with either polarity. The hearing aid housing may comprise an ear-tip, wherein a microphone is mounted in the hearing aid housing near the ear-tip and the microphone receives sounds through at least one sound inlet located on a side surface of the hearing aid housing. The ear-tip additionally comprises three flanges decreasing in size toward the flange closest to the ear canal, and the hearing aid can be inserted into the ear canal in any orientation.

Claims (29)

1. An in the ear hearing aid device comprising:

a hearing aid housing comprising a retractable battery sleeve movable between closed and open positions, wherein the hearing aid housing defines a battery slot open laterally on both sides for the insertion of a battery when the retractable battery sleeve is retracted to its open position;

a circuit module comprising a battery, a microphone, and a receiver, wherein the circuit module is inserted in the hearing aid housing, and wherein the circuit module alone provides hearing aid functionality without additional wiring and set up with the hearing aid housing; and

an ear-tip, wherein the microphone is mounted in the hearing aid housing near the ear-tip and the microphone receives sounds through at least one sound inlet located on a side surface of the hearing aid housing.

2. The hearing aid device according to claim 1 wherein the hearing aid housing is symmetrical.

3. The hearing aid device according to claim 1 wherein the hearing aid housing has at least a cylindrical portion.

4. The hearing aid device according to claim 1 wherein the circuit module further comprises an amplifier.

5. The hearing aid device according to claim 1 wherein the circuit module further comprises a switch.

6. The hearing aid device according to claim 5 wherein the switch is an on-off switch.

7. The hearing aid device according to claim 5 wherein the switch is a gain-control switch.

8. The hearing aid device according to claim 1 wherein the hearing aid device does not require specific orientation of insertion in a user's ear canal to function effectively.

9. The hearing aid device according to claim 1 wherein the battery can be inserted into the battery slot with either polarity.

10. The hearing aid device according to claim 1 wherein the battery can be inserted in the battery slot to replace an old battery, while the old battery is still in the battery slot, and inserting a battery in the battery slot causes the old battery to be displaced without having to first separately displace the old battery.

11. The hearing aid device according to claim 1 wherein inserting the battery in the battery slot makes the hearing aid operable, without requiring any further assembly.

12. The hearing aid device according to claim 1 wherein the circuit module further comprises a circuit board, wherein the microphone and the receiver are on opposite sides of the circuit board.

13. The hearing aid device according to claim 1 wherein the ear-tip comprises three flanges decreasing in size toward the flange closest to the ear canal.

14. An in the ear hearing aid device comprising:

a hearing aid housing comprising a retractable battery sleeve, wherein a battery slot is exposed when the battery sleeve is retracted, and a battery can be inserted into the battery slot from either side of the battery slot, with either polarity;

a circuit module comprising a battery, a microphone, and a receiver, wherein the circuit module is inserted in the hearing aid housing, and wherein the circuit module alone provides hearing aid functionality without additional wiring and set up with the hearing aid housing; and

an ear-tip, wherein the microphone is mounted in the hearing aid housing near the ear-tip and the microphone receives sounds through at least one sound inlet located on a side surface of the hearing aid housing.

15. The hearing aid device according to claim 14 wherein the battery can be inserted in the battery slot to replace an old battery, while the old battery is still in the battery slot, and inserting a battery in the battery slot causes the old battery to be displaced without having to first separately displace the old battery.

16. The hearing aid device according to claim 14 wherein inserting the battery in the battery slot makes the hearing aid operable, without requiring any further assembly.

17. The hearing aid device according to claim 14 wherein the hearing aid does not require specific orientation of insertion in a user's ear canal to function effectively.

18. The hearing aid device according to claim 14 wherein the ear-tip comprises three flanges decreasing in size toward the flange closest to the ear canal.

19. An in the ear hearing aid device comprising:

an ear-tip; and

a housing comprising a retractable battery sleeve, wherein a battery slot is exposed when the battery sleeve is retracted, and a battery can be inserted into the battery slot from either side of the battery slot, wherein inserting the battery in the battery slot alone, makes the in the ear hearing aid device operable, irrespective of whether the batter sleeve is in an open position or a closed position.

20. The hearing aid device according to claim 19 wherein the battery can be inserted into the battery slot with either polarity.

21. The hearing aid device according to claim 19 wherein the hearing aid does not require specific orientation of insertion in a user's ear canal to function effectively.
