Abstract

Medical devices, such as stents, and methods of making the devices are disclosed. In some embodiments, a medical device includes an alloy having tantalum, tungsten, zirconium and niobium. For example, the alloy can include from about 20% to about 40% by weight of tantalum, from about 0.5% to about 9% by weight of tungsten, and from about 0.5% to about 10% by weight of zirconium.

Claims (7)

1. A stent, the stent comprising an alloy comprising from about 20% to about 40% by weight of tantalum, from about 0.5% to about 9% by weight of tungsten, from about 0.5% to about 10% by weight of zirconium, from about 41% to about 79% by weight of niobium and from about 10 ppm to about 1000 ppm oxygen.

2. The stent of claim 1 , wherein the alloy further comprises an element selected from the group consisting of molybdenum, rhenium, iridium, and hafnium.

3. The stent of claim 1 , further comprising a filament having at least a portion including the alloy.

4. The stent of claim 1 , further comprising a tubular member comprising the alloy.

5. The stent of claim 1 , further comprising a multilayered structure, wherein at least one layer comprises the alloy.

6. The stent of claim 5 , wherein the multilayered structure is in the form of a tubular member or a filament.

7. A stent, the stent comprising an alloy comprising from about 20% to about 40% by weight of tantalum, from about 0.5% to about 9% by weight of tungsten, from about 0.5% to about 10% by weight of zirconium, from about 41% to about 79% by weight of niobium and from about 50 ppm to about 300 ppm oxygen.
