Abstract

A liquid crystal display device includes first and second substrates with a liquid crystal layer therebetween, and a transparent conductor which is formed at a liquid crystal side of at least one of the first and the second substrates. At least a projected portion is formed on the transparent conductor in a pixel region, and a material of the projected portion is different from a material of the transparent conductor.

Claims (29)

1. A liquid crystal display device comprising:

first and second substrates with a liquid crystal layer therebetween;

a transparent conductor formed at a liquid crystal layer side of at least one of the first and the second substrates;

wherein at least a projected portion formed of a conductive material is formed on the transparent conductor in a pixel region, and the conductive material of the projected portion is different from that of the transparent conductor; and

wherein a width of the projected portion at one direction is wider than a width of another direction which is formed at a right angle to the one direction.

2. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 , wherein a thickness of the projected portion is thicker than that of the transparent conductor.

3. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 2 , wherein a thin film transistor is formed on the first substrate, and the transparent conductor being formed on the first substrate.

4. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 3 , wherein light shielding region is formed at the second substrate and arranged in each pixel, and at least a part of the projected portion is arranged outside of the light shielding region in the pixel in plane view.

5. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 4 , wherein the projected portion is separated from a neighboring projected portion in plane view.

6. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 4 , wherein the projected portion is formed from a light transparent area to a non light transparent area continuously in plane view.

7. A liquid crystal display device comprising:

first and second substrates with a liquid crystal layer therebetween;

a transparent conductor formed at a liquid crystal layer side of at least one of the first and the second substrates;

wherein at least a projected portion formed of a conductive material is formed on the transparent conductor in a pixel region, and the conductive material of the projected portion is different from that of the transparent conductor;

wherein a thickness of the projected portion is thicker than that of the transparent conductor;

wherein a thin film transistor is formed on the first substrate, and the transparent conductor being formed on the first substrate;

wherein light shielding region is formed at the second substrate and arranged in each pixel, and at least a part of the projected portion is arranged outside of the light shielding region in the pixel in plane view; and

wherein a width of the projected portion at one direction is wider than a width of another direction which is formed at a right angle to the one direction.

8. A liquid crystal display device comprising:

first and second substrates with a liquid crystal layer therebetween;

a transparent conductor formed at a liquid crystal layer side of at least one of the first and the second substrates;

wherein at least a projected portion formed of a conductive material is formed on the transparent conductor in a pixel region, and the conductive material of the projected portion is different from that of the transparent conductor;

wherein a thickness of the projected portion is thicker than that of the transparent conductor;

wherein a thin film transistor is formed on the first substrate, and the transparent conductor being formed on the first substrate;

wherein light shielding region is formed at the second substrate and arranged in each pixel, and at least a part of the projected portion is arranged outside of the light shielding region in the pixel in plane view;

wherein the projected portion is formed from a light transparent area to a non light transparent area continuously in plane view; and

wherein a width of the projected portion at one direction is wider than a width of another direction which is formed at a right angle to the one direction.

9. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 4 , wherein a second transparent conductor is formed on the second substrate, and the second transparent conductor is formed at both a region where the projected portion is arranged and a region where the projected portion is not arranged continuously.

10. A liquid crystal display device according to claim 3 , wherein the transparent conductor is a pixel electrode and a counter electrode is formed on the second substrate.
