View Patent ↗The present invention is in the field of multiple layer glass panels comprising a polymer sheet having desirable surface properties, and more specifically, the present invention is in the field of multiple layer glass panels comprising poly(vinyl butyral) having a finished surface of relatively low waviness and high roughness disposed in contact with poly(ethylene terephthalate) and/or other poly(vinyl butyral) type layers.
1. A polymer sheet, comprising:
poly(vinyl butyral); and,
a plasticizer,
wherein said polymer sheet has a surface with a waviness index of less than 20,000 square micrometers, an embossed R z value of at least 20 micrometers, and a permanence of between 10 and 40 percent.
2. The polymer sheet of claim 1 , wherein said polymer sheet is not disposed in contact with any other polymeric layer.
3. The polymer sheet of claim 1 , wherein said embossed R z value is at least 30 micrometers.
4. The polymer sheet of claim 1 , wherein said embossed R z value is at least 35 micrometers.
5. The polymer sheet of claim 1 , wherein said polymer sheet has a second surface with a waviness index of less than 20,000 square micrometers, an embossed R z , value of at least 20 micrometers, and a permanence of between 10 and 95 percent.
6. The sheet of claim 1 having a permanence of between 10 and 30 percent.
7. A multiple layer glass panel, comprising;
a glass sheet; and,
a polymer sheet, comprising:
poly(vinyl butyral); and,
a plasticizer, wherein said polymer sheet has a surface with a waviness index of less than 20,000 square micrometers, an embossed R z value of at least 20 micrometers, and a permanence of between 10 and 40 percent.
8. The panel of claim 7 , wherein said polymer sheet is not disposed in contact with any other polymer polymeric layer.
9. The panel of claim 7 , wherein said embossed R z value is at least 30 micrometers.
10. The panel of claim 7 , wherein said embossed R z value is at least 35 micrometers.
11. The panel of claim 7 , wherein said polymer sheet has a second surface with a waviness index of less than 20,000 square micrometers, an embossed R z value of at least 20 micrometers, and a permanence of between 10 and 95 percent.
12. The panel of claim 7 having a permanence of between 10 and 30 percent.
13. A polymer sheet, comprising:
poly(vinyl butyral); and,
a plasticizer,
wherein said polymer sheet has a surface with a waviness index of less than 20,000 square micrometers, an embossed R z value of at least 20 micrometers, and a permanence of between 30 and 50 percent.
14. The polymer sheet of claim 13 , wherein said polymer sheet is not disposed in contact with any other polymeric layer.
15. The polymer sheet of claim 13 , wherein said embossed R z value is at least 30 micrometers.
16. The polymer sheet of claim 13 , wherein said embossed R z value is at least 35 micrometers.
17. The polymer sheet of claim 13 , wherein said polymer sheet has a second surface with a waviness index of less than 20,000 square micrometers, an embossed R z , value of at least 20 micrometers, and a permanence of between 10 and 95 percent.
18. A multiple layer glass panel, comprising;
a glass sheet; and,
a polymer sheet, comprising:
poly(vinyl butyral); and,
a plasticizer, wherein said polymer sheet has a surface with a waviness index of less than 20,000 square micrometers, an embossed R z value of at least 20 micrometers, and a permanence of between 30 and 50 percent.
19. The panel of claim 18 , wherein said polymer sheet is not disposed in contact with any other polymer polymeric layer.
20. The panel of claim 18 , wherein said embossed R z value is at least 30 micrometers.
21. The panel of claim 18 , wherein said embossed R z value is at least 35 micrometers.
22. The panel of claim 18 , wherein said polymer sheet has a second surface with a waviness index of less than 20,000 square micrometers, an embossed R z value of at least 20 micrometers, and a permanence of between 10 and 95 percent.
