Abstract

A printing group of a rotary printing press includes at least one forme cylinder and at least one transfer cylinder. The forme cylinder has at least two printing forme end receiving channels. These two channels are spaced circumferentially. At least one of these forme cylinder end receiving channels rolls off against a channel in the transfer cylinder. One of the forme cylinder end receiving channels is at least partially covered by a printing forme carried by the forme cylinder.

Claims (24)

1. A printing group of a rotary printing press comprising:

a transfer cylinder having a transfer cylinder barrel with a transfer cylinder barrel axial length of six newspaper pages, said transfer cylinder having a transfer cylinder circumference;

a forme cylinder working together with said transfer cylinder and forming a cylinder pair, said forme cylinder having a forme cylinder barrel axial length of six newspaper pages;

at least one printing forme on said forme cylinder barrel;

a continuous longitudinal first groove in said transfer cylinder and extending over said axial length of said transfer cylinder barrel;

three printing blankets on said transfer cylinder, said three printing blankets having axially extending printing blanket ends with said axially extending printing blanket ends being arranged axially aligned on said transfer cylinder in said continuous longitudinal first groove, each of said printing blankets extending substantially over said transfer cylinder circumference; and

first and second forme cylinder grooves in said forme cylinder, said first and second forme cylinder grooves being offset in a circumferential direction of said forme cylinder by 180°, at least one of said forme cylinder grooves extending along an entire axial length of said barrel of said forme cylinder.

2. The printing group of claim 1 wherein both of said first and second forme cylinder grooves extend over said entire length of said forme cylinder barrel.

3. The printing group of claim 1 wherein said forme cylinder has a forme cylinder circumference equal to said transfer cylinder circumference.

4. The printing group of claim 1 wherein said transfer cylinder circumference corresponds to at least two newspaper pages.

5. The printing group of claim 1 wherein said transfer cylinder groove has a width greater than twice a thickness of an end of each said printing blanket and no greater than 3 mm.

6. The printing group of claim 1 wherein said blanket is a rubber blanket.

7. The printing group of claim 1 wherein a ratio of said transfer cylinder circumference to a circumference of said forme cylinder is a whole number.

8. The printing group of claim 1 further including a plurality of printing formes on said forme cylinder, said plurality of printing formes having printing forme ends which are aligned along said forme cylinder.

9. The printing group of claim 1 further including a plurality of printing formes arranged on said forme cylinder one behind the other in said circumferential direction of said forme cylinder.

10. The printing group of claim 1 wherein said forme cylinder has a circumference corresponding to at least two newspaper pages.

11. The printing group of claim 1 wherein said first and second forme cylinder grooves each have a width greater than twice the thickness of a printing forme and between 1 and 5 mm.

12. The printing group of claim 11 wherein said width is no greater than 3 mm.

13. The printing group of claim 1 further including a second groove in said transfer cylinder, said first and second transfer cylinder grooves being arranged one behind the other in a circumferential direction of said transfer cylinder.

14. The printing group of claim 13 wherein said first and second transfer cylinder grooves are evenly spaced in said circumferential direction.

15. The printing group of claim 1 further including a holding device in each said groove.

16. The printing group of claim 1 wherein each said printing blanket is a multi-layered blanket and includes a support plate and a layer connected to said support plate.

17. The printing group of claim 1 further including a counter-pressure cylinder working together with said transfer cylinder.

18. The printing group of claim 1 wherein said transfer cylinder continuous longitudinal first groove has a gap with a gap width of between 1 mm and 5 mm.
