Abstract

The subject invention provides anticoagulant compounds of formula I: and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein R 1 , R 3 , n and Ar are as defined herein. The compounds of the subject invention can be used to treat at-risk populations thereby bringing relief of symptoms, improving the quality of life, preventing acute and long-term complications, reducing mortality and treating accompanying disorders. The invention further comprises pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds and salts of the invention, as well as methods of using the compounds, salts, and compositions of the invention.

Claims (22)

1. A compound of the formula:

and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein

R is C 1 –C 8 alkyl substituted with at least one halogen.

2. A compound of claim 1 , wherein

R is C 2 –C 8 alkyl substituted with at least one halogen.

3. A compound according to claim 2 , wherein

R is C 3 –C 7 alkyl substituted with at least one halogen.

4. A compound according to claim 3 , wherein

R is C 3 –C 6 substituted with at least one halogen.

5. A compound according to claim 4 , wherein

R is C 3 –C 6 substituted with at least one fluoro group.

6. A compound according to claim 5 , wherein

R is C 3 –C 6 substituted with at least two fluoro groups.

7. A compound according to claim 6 , wherein

R is a tert-butyl group substituted with six fluoro groups.

8. A compound according to claim 7 , wherein

9. A compound according to claim 1 that is 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-methylpropan-2-yl 4-((4-hydroxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl) methyl)benzoate, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

10. A compound according to claim 1 that is 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-methylpropan-2-yl 4-((4-hydroxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl)methyl)benzoate.

11. A pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 1 that is the sodium or potassium salt of 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-methylpropan-2-yl 4-((4-hydroxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl)methyl)benzoate.

12. A pharmaceutically acceptable salt according to claim 11 that is the sodium salt.

13. A composition comprising a compound or salt of claim 1 and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable glidant, solvent, adjuvant, diluent, lubricant, excipient, or combination thereof.
