Compositions and methods for treating or preventing inflammatory diseases
Methods and compositions for treating or preventing inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis or multiple sclerosis are provided, comprising the step of delivering to the site of inflammation an anti-microtubule agent, or analogue or derivative thereof.

A device, comprising an implant for use in a surgical procedure in an abdominal or pelvic cavity and an anti-microtubule agent or a composition comprising an anti-microtubule agent, wherein the anti-microtubule agent reduces the incidence of post-operative surgical adhesions in the vicinity of the implant.
47 . The device of claim 46 wherein the anti-microtubule agent or the composition comprising the anti-microtubule agent prevents unwanted accumulation of scar tissue in the vicinity of the device once the device has been deployed.
48 . The device of claim 46 wherein the anti-microtubule agent or the composition comprising the anti-microtubule agent prevents encapsulation of the device once the device has been deployed.
49 . The device of claim 46 wherein the implant is a genitourinary device.

The device of claim 49 wherein the genitourinary device is selected from the group consisting of uterine implants, intrauterine devices, devices to prevent endometrial hyperplasia, fallopian tubal implants, fallopian tubal stents, artificial sphincters, periurethral implants for incontinence, ureteric stents, chronic indwelling catheters, bladder augmentations, and wraps and splints for vasovasostomy.
51 . The device of claim 46 wherein the implant is in the form of a film, mesh, or wrap.
52 . The device of claim 46 wherein the composition comprises a polymer.
53 . The device of claim 52 wherein the polymer is biodegradable.
54 . The device of claim 52 wherein the polymer is non-biodegradable.
55 . The device of claim 46 wherein the device is adapted to release the anti-microtubule agent or composition comprising the anti-microtubule agent into a tissue surrounding the device once it has been deployed.
56 . The device of claim 46 , further comprising a coating on the device wherein the coating comprises the anti-microtubule agent or the composition comprising the anti-microtubule agent.
57 . The device of claim 46 wherein the anti-microtubule agent is a taxane.
58 . The device of claim 46 wherein the anti-microtubule agent is paclitaxel, or an analogue or derivative thereof.
59 . The device of claim 58 wherein the anti-microtubule agent is paclitaxel.
60 . The device of claim 58 wherein the anti-microtubule agent is an analogue or derivative of paclitaxel.
61 . The device of claim 60 wherein the analogue or derivative of paclitaxel is docetaxel.
62 . The device of claim 46 wherein the anti-microtubule agent is a podophyllotoxin.
63 . The device of claim 46 wherein the anti-microtubule agent is estradiol.
64 . The device of claim 52 wherein the polymer is a polyester.

The device of claim 52 wherein the polymer is selected from the group consisting of poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate), poly(D,L-lactic acid) oligomers and polymers, poly(L-lactic acid) oligomers and polymers, poly(glycolic acid), copolymers of lactic acid and glycolic acid, poly(caprolactone), poly(valerolactone), polyanhydrides, copolymers of poly (caprolactone) or poly(lactic acid) with a polyethylene glycol (e.g., MePEG), and blends thereof.
