Abstract

The present invention provides novel insecticidal formulations comprising an effective concentration of: 1) at least one or more essential oils and an insecticidal soap; 2) at least one or more essential oils, an insecticidal soap, and pyrethrins; 3) at least one or more essential oils and pyrethrins; 4) at least one or more essential oils, an insecticidal soap and a synergist, such as sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium dodecyl sulfate or lecithin; 5) at least one or more essential oils, an insecticidal soap, a synergist, and pyrethrins; and 6) at least one or more essential oils, a synergist, and pyrethrins. A carrier oil, such as mineral oil, may be added to any of the foregoing formulations.

Claims (39)

1 . An insecticidal composition comprising at least one essential oil, and soap.

2 . The insecticidal composition of claim 1 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of: cornmint oil, cedar oil, cinnamon oil, citronella oil, clove oil, corn oil, garlic oil, lemongrass oil, linseed oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, soybean oil, neem oil, thyme oil, orange oil, lemon oil, lime oil, grapefruit oil, tangerine oil, D-limonene, eugenol, geraniol, and palmarosa oil.

3 . The insecticidal composition of claim 1 , wherein the soap comprises potassium salts of fatty acids.

4 . The insecticidal composition of claim 3 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of D-limonene and palmarosa oil.

5 . The insecticidal composition of claim 4 , further comprising a carrier oil.

6 . An insecticidal composition comprising at least one essential oil, soap and pyrethrins.

The insecticidal composition of claim 6 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of: cornmint oil, cedar oil, cinnamon oil, citronella oil, clove oil, corn oil, garlic oil, lemongrass oil, linseed oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, soybean oil, neem oil, thyme oil, orange oil, lemon oil, lime oil, grapefruit oil, tangerine oil, D-limonene, eugenol, geraniol, and palmarosa oil.

8 . The insecticidal composition of claim 7 , wherein the amount of essential oil is about 0.25% to about 12% by weight, the amount of soap is about 0.5% to about 4% by weight, the amount of pyrethrins is about 0.01% to about 0.5% by weight, and the remainder water.

9 . The insecticidal composition of claim 8 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of D-limonene and palmarosa oil.

10 . The insecticidal composition of claim 9 , further comprising a carrier oil.

11 . An insecticidal composition comprising at least one essential oil and pyrethrins.

The insecticidal composition of claim 11 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of: cornmint oil, cedar oil, cinnamon oil, citronella oil, clove oil, corn oil, garlic oil, lemongrass oil, linseed oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, soybean oil, neem oil, thyme oil, orange oil, lemon oil, lime oil, grapefruit oil, tangerine oil, D-limonene, eugenol, geraniol, and palmarosa oil.

13 . The insecticidal composition of claim 12 , wherein the amount of essential oil is about 0.25% to about 12% by weight, the amount of pyrethrins is about 0.01% to about 0.5% by weight, and the remainder water.

14 . The insecticidal composition of claim 13 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of D-limonene and palmarosa oil.

15 . The insecticidal composition of claim 13 , further comprising a carrier oil.

16 . An insecticidal composition comprising at least one essential oil, soap and a synergist.

17 . The insecticidal composition of claim 16 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of: cornmint oil, cedar oil, cinnamon oil, citronella oil, clove oil, corn oil, garlic oil, lemongrass oil, linseed oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, soybean oil, neem oil, thyme oil, orange oil, lemon oil, lime oil, grapefruit oil, tangerine oil, D-limonene, eugenol, geraniol, and palmarosa oil.

18 . The insecticidal composition of claim 16 , wherein said synergist is sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium dodecyl sulfate, or lecithin.

19 . The insecticidal composition of claim 16 , wherein the soap comprises potassium salts of fatty acids.

20 . The insecticidal composition of claim 19 , wherein the amount of essential oil is about 0.25% to about 12% by weight, the amount of potassium salts of fatty acids is about 0.5% to about 4% by weight, the amount of synergist is about 0.25% to about 5% by weight, and the remainder water.

21 . The insecticidal composition of claim 20 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of D-limonene and palmarosa oil.

22 . The insecticidal composition of claim 20 , further comprising a carrier oil.

23 . An insecticidal composition comprising an essential oil, soap, pyrethrins and a synergist.

24 . The insecticidal composition of claim 23 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of: cornmint oil, cedar oil, cinnamon oil, citronella oil, clove oil, corn oil, garlic oil, lemongrass. oil, linseed oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, soybean oil, neem oil, thyme oil, orange oil, lemon oil, lime oil, grapefruit oil, tangerine oil, D-limonene, eugenol, geraniol, and palmarosa oil.

25 . The insecticidal composition of claim 23 , wherein the soap comprises potassium salts of fatty acids.

26 . The insecticidal composition of claim 23 , wherein said synergist is sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium dodecyl sulfate, or lecithin.

The insecticidal composition of claim 25 , wherein the amount of essential oil is about 0.25% to about 12% by weight, the amount of pyrethrins is about 0.01% to about 0.5% by weight, the amount of potassium salts of fatty acids is about 0.5% to about 4% by weight, the amount of synergist is about 0.25% to about 5% by weight, and the remainder water.

28 . The insecticidal composition of claim 27 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of D-limonene and palmarosa oil.

29 . The insecticidal composition of claim 27 , further comprising a carrier oil.

30 . An insecticidal composition comprising at least one essential oil, pyrethrins and a synergist.

31 . The insecticidal composition of claim 30 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of: cornmint oil, cedar oil, cinnamon oil, citronella oil, clove oil, corn oil, garlic oil, lemongrass oil, linseed oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, soybean oil, neem oil, thyme oil, orange oil, lemon oil, lime oil, grapefruit oil, tangerine oil, D-limonene, eugenol, geraniol, and palmarosa oil.

32 . The insecticidal composition of claim 30 , wherein said synergist is sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium dodecyl sulfate, or lecithin.

33 . The insecticidal composition of claim 31 , wherein the amount of essential oil is about 0.25% to about 12% by weight, the amount of pyrethrins is about 0.01% to about 0.5% by weight, the amount of synergist is about 0.25% to about 5% by weight, and the remainder water.

34 . The insecticidal composition of claim 33 , wherein the essential oil is selected from the group consisting of D-limonene and palmarosa oil.

35 . The insecticidal composition of claim 33 , further comprising a carrier oil.

36 . The insecticidal composition of claim 8 , wherein the essential oil is about 1% D-limonene, the amount of soap is about 1% and the amount of pyrethrins is about 0.05%.

37 . The insecticidal composition of claim 8 , wherein the essential oil is about 1% palmarosa oil, the amount of soap is about 1% and the amount of pyrethrins is about 0.012%.

38 . The insecticidal composition of claim 8 , wherein said soap is an insecticidal soap containing oleic acid and denatured alcohol.

39 . The insecticidal composition of claim 8 , wherein said pyrethrins derive from a pyrethrin concentrate including an antioxidant to prevent the pyrethrins from breaking down and an alcohol to solubilize the pyrethrins.
