Abstract

The ligand polypeptides of the present invention have activity to regulate CRH secretion, and thus are useful as CRH secretion regulators for the relief, prevention or treatment of various diseases related to CRH secretion, such as hypoaldosteronism, hypocortisolemia, secondary and chronic adrenocorticism, Addison's disease (weakness, nausea, pigmentation, hypogonadism, alopecia, hypotension), adrenal dysfunction, and obesity, and also as analgesics.

Claims (16)

- 9 . (canceled)

. A method for regulating the secretion of corticotropin-releasing hormones, characterized by administering a ligand peptide for a G protein-coupled receptor protein, or an amide thereof, ester thereof, or salt thereof to mammals, wherein the G protein-coupled receptor protein comprises an amino acid sequence that is the same as or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO.:46 or SEQ ID NO.:48.

. A method for regulating corticotrophin-releasing hormone in a mammal in need thereof comprising administering an effective corticotrophin-hormone releasing hormone regulating amount of a corticotrophin-releasing hormone regulator comprising a ligand peptide for a G protein-coupled receptor protein, or an amide thereof, ester thereof, or salt thereof, to a mammal in need thereof, wherein the G protein-coupled receptor protein comprises an amino acid sequence that is the same or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO.: 46 or SEQ ID NO.: 48.

. A method according to claim 10 , wherein the G protein-coupled receptor protein comprises an amino acid sequence that is the same as or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO.: 46.

. A method according to claim 10 , wherein the G protein-coupled receptor protein comprises an amino acid sequence that is the same as or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO.: 48.

. A method according to claim 10 , wherein the ligand peptide for a G protein-coupled receptor protein, or amide thereof, ester thereof, or salt thereof comprises a polypeptide or amide thereof, ester thereof, or salt thereof comprising an amino acid sequence that is the same or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO.: 44 or SEQ ID NO.: 45.

. A method according to claim 14 , wherein the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO.: 44 is the amino acid sequence selected from the group represented by SEQ ID NO.: 3, SEQ ID NO.: 18 and SEQ ID NO.: 32.

. A method according to claim 14 , wherein the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO.: 45 is the amino acid sequence selected from the group represented by SEQ ID NO.: 6, SEQ ID NO.: 21 and SEQ ID NO.: 35.

. A method according to claim 10 , wherein the ligand peptide for a G protein-coupled receptor protein, or an amide thereof, ester thereof, or salt thereof is a corticotrophin-releasing hormone secretion promoter.

. A method according to claim 10 , for treatment or prevention of hypoaldosteronism, hypocortisolemia, secondary or chronic hypoadrenocorticism, Addison's disease, adrenal dysfunction, or obesity.

. A method according to claim 11 , wherein the G protein-coupled receptor protein comprises an amino acid sequence that is the same or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO.: 46.

. A method according to claim 11 , wherein the G protein-coupled receptor protein comprises an amino acid sequence that is the same or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO.: 48.

. A method according to claim 11 , wherein the ligand peptide for the G protein-coupled receptor protein comprises a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence that is the same or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO.: 44.

. A method according to claim 11 , wherein the ligand peptide for the G protein-coupled receptor protein comprises a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence that is the same or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO.: 45.

. A method according to claim 11 , wherein the ligand peptide for the G protein-coupled receptor protein comprises a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence that is the same or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence selected from the group represented by SEQ ID NO.: 3, SEQ ID NO.: 18 and SEQ ID NO.: 32.

. A method according to claim 11 , wherein the ligand peptide for the G protein-coupled receptor protein comprises a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence that is the same or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence selected from the group represented by SEQ ID NO.: 6, SEQ ID NO.: 21 and SEQ ID NO.: 35.
